Halloween Tree

Boy, have I missed crafting. Between midterms, a trip to Apple Hill, and birthday party planning, I haven’t had much time to create the million and one things I’ve been wanting to. Currently on my to do list: birthday banner (using my new cricut machine that I’m in love with), bean bags for a party game, table runner for Jay’s party, and a dress for Madi. Here are some of the things I was able to get done.

I seen this great idea over at Write It Down and thought it’d make a great decoration for Jay’s birthday party. Here’s what I did
1. Spray painted the branches black
2. Hot glued fabric onto an old coffee can
3. Glued styrofoam inside then stuck the branches in place
4. I then wrapped a tootsie pop inside white fabric and tied a bow around the neck. Then with a Sharpie drew on the eyes and mouth.
5. I thought it needed something else so I added the ruffle on top
Pretty easy, right?
I {heart} Apple Hill. And of course I love all the yummy things we make with the apples. Like this:
This was Madi “helping” me make the carmel apples
And lastly, tonight we carved pumpkins. We all had a great time, mainly because watching Madi go wild over the pumpkin seeds was hilarious!
I hope to finish Jay’s birthday banner tomorrow so I’ll upload that when I’m done. I’m really excited about his party, I can’t believe my little pumpkin isn’t so little anymore!

Madi’s Wall Decor

When we were house hunting all I could think about was how I would decorate each room in the house. Well, its now been 8 months since we bought our house and I’m still not done decorating. There’s a wall in our living that is completely empty and I don’t know how much more I can deal with it being like that. In fact, I not only want some wall decor, but a new sofa set, and end table as well.
To continue with the decorating process I decided to make Madi some canvas wall decor for her room.
I really wanted 12×12 canvas, but our Michael’s were all out and I was too impatient to wait until their new shipment. Here’s what I used: four 8×10 canvas, scrapbook paper, mod podge, paint, and a brush.
I painted boarders of the canvas
Then I brushed Mod Podge and put the paper right on top. Sorry I don’t have any pics of this step.
I love how this paper says “growing girl” and “i love you” on the flower stems.
Cute, right?
And now for some exciting news..I was recently contacted by the company, CSN, to see if I would like to review one of their products. Ummm of course! But with over 200+ stores, I don’t know how I will narrow it down to one item. So keep an eye out because you will definitely be hearing more about this in the future.

Cricut or Silhouette??

I really want a die cut machine but I’m having a hard time deciding on which one is the best deal. Does anyone have a Cricut

Or Silhouette SD?
What do you like or don’t like about it? I know cartridges for the Cricut can be pricey but don’t know much about the Silhouette. If anyone has any advice to offer I’d appreciate your input, thanks!  :)

Pumpkin Candles

Remember my Pottery Barn Decor post? Well I had found these pumpkin candles from PB that I absolutely adored. Being the frugalista that I am, I decided not to order them but rather make a knock off out of real pumpkins.
What I did was simply trace the tea light on each pumpkin, then with a paring knife cut out the hole. The whole process of cutting and cleaning out the pumpkins took maybe 10 mins.
I realize these won’t last very long but when these cute little pumpkins are 3 for $1, I’ll take that over PB’s price any day!

Halloween Skirt

Earlier this week we took the kids to the pumpkin patch, and of course Madi needed a Halloween skirt for the occasion. It’s a little big, but still very cute on her.
I couldn’t resist making her a hair bow to match :)
My little pumpkin isn’t so little anymore..I can’t believe he’ll be 7 at the end of the month.
Here is the skirt up close:
I just started learning how to sew this past summer so I’m still a beginner. But I love how easy these skirts are to make. I just purchased some Christmas fabric that I’m excited to make a skirt out of. Maybe pair it with some leggings and have a cute holiday outfit.
Thanks for stopping by!
