Peeps Bunny Wreath

Have I mentioned how much I love my Easter Peeps Topiary? When I was making it I knew right away that I wanted to do some more crafting with peeps, they’re just too cute! So I decided to make a wreath as well.

Here’s what I used
  • 9 inch wreath (from the dollar store)
  • 1 pack of bunny Peeps (12ct)
  • Paint (optional)
  • Hot glue
  • Ribbon
  • Craft Sealant
Total cost = $2

I didn’t have pink spray paint so I used regular acrylic paint. It worked just fine, but I’m sure using spray paint would be 10x’s easier.

Hot glue the peeps in the direction you prefer, add some ribbon and you’re done! Isn’t that too easy?
I {hop} you like my wreath :)
Does anyone actually like Peeps? I tried one for the first time since I was little and I can’t say I’ll eat another. I’d much rather indulge in these. Mmmmm…

What is your favorite Easter candy?

p.s. thank you for all the sweet comments about my announcement, you’re all the best!

Tie onesies, burp cloths, and an announcement

If you’ve been a follower for awhile you may have noticed that my crafting/blogging was a little neglected earlier this year. Well, I’ve been working on a big project that has required a lot of my time and energy. This is how it’s coming along.
Me at 20 weeks. Please excuse the messy hair.
We recently found out that we are expecting a boy and we’re ecstatic! Only thing is, there isn’t a lot of cute boy things to make. When we found out we were expecting our daughter a couple years ago, I went crazy making her tutus, hair bows, wipe cases, dresses, etc. Then I remembered seeing tie onesies on etsy and I knew I had to make some.
I made two different burp cloth styles and used two different tie patterns.
Do you see how the top of the tie is straight instead of curved like in the first picture?
I found the patterns here and here by simply searching google. The second link has a great tutorial on how to make the tie onesies. The burp cloths are really easy to make. I used prefolded cloth diapers and folded the edges over and top stitched. If anyone needs a tutorial please let me know and I’ll get one up.
I plan on making a lot more boy things and will be posting on here as I make them. Also, can anyone recommend a great website to buy fabric from? I’ve only purchased fabric from our local Joann’s but would love some more options. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have. Have a great weekend everyone!

Easter Peeps Topiary

I was inspired by the adorable peeps topiary in Woman’s Day Magazine. I don’t see it up on their site yet but here is a tutorial on how to make this cute topiary.

Supplies:

  • Flower pot/pail
  • 12″ dowel
  • Green paint and paintbrush
  • Embroidery hoop (their’s calls for a 6inch, but 8inch is all I could find)
  • Peeps (I used 4 packages)
  • Green Easter grass
  • Glue gun
  • Flower foam
Cut your foam so that it fits in your pail. After you’ve painted your dowel glue it onto the opening of the embroidery hoop. Use a lot of glue!

Then take a group of 5 peeps and glue them onto the hoop. DO NOT separate, but slightly bend them to encircle the hoop.

I apologize for not having a picture of the last steps. After your peeps are glued on the hoop, glue the dowel into your foam. You can spray the peeps with a craft sealer to help preserve them. Add the Easter grass and then you’re done!

Tip: check your peeps to make sure they are all in good shape. One of my packages didn’t look as nice as the others and I’m considering redoing that section.
Isn’t this a fun craft? Thanks for stopping!

Oreo Cupcakes

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve had a little bit of a sweet tooth lately. Last week I was craving Oreo cookies then I started thinking about what I could do with the remainder of the package before I ate it all. So today I decided to make Oreo cupcakes.
I thought it’d be fun to make the kids something green everyday this week and this is what I came up with.
These are really easy to make. Place an oreo at the bottom of a cupcake liner and fill 2/3 of the way with cake batter.
Bake for 18-20 mins and let them cool.
I also made some without food coloring.
These were so fun to make and have I mentioned delicious? Madi had a great time putting the cookies in the liners, oh and trying to sneak bites in too. Hmm….now I need to think of what to make tomorrow.
Green jello? Milkshakes? Cookies? Oh the possibilities!

Banana Nut Bread

In my last post I mentioned that a friend of mine recently started a food blog and today I made another one of her amazing recipes. She’s been passing along recipes to friends for awhile now and I’m glad she started her blog to share with us all the delicious meals she makes for her family. This is her Banana Bread recipe.
Here’s a picture with the flash on
And because I’m a chocoholic, I made another loaf with mini chocolate chips. Hubby says I can’t ever leave a recipe alone, I always have to add something.  But if it involves chocolate can you really blame me?
Seriously, this bread is amazing! The recipe is really easy to follow and doesn’t require very many ingredients at all. Head on over to Will Cook For Smiles and check out all her delicious recipes, trust me you won’t be disappointed.
Also, check back tomorrow and enter my first giveaway!!

Handmade Clutch and St. Patty’s Day Ideas

With Spring right around the corner I felt like I needed some color in my life. So I went through my bookmarked tutorials and went out in search of some new fabric. This is what I came up with…

I really like the colors, especially the grey with yellow and blue.
I’m thinking about making a yellow flower to add on the side.

The tutorial is from Noodlehead. I’ve wanted to make one for months but was too afraid I’d mess it up. Silly, I know. But after trying it out I think I’m starting to feel a little more comfortable with my sewing skills.

On another note, has everyone decorated for St. Patty’s day? I never decorate for it but I usually make a craft and treats with the kids. This year these shortbread cookies are a must!
A friend of mine recently started a recipe blog and she has the most delicious recipes to share. For this and other recipes check out Will Cook For Smiles
I’m lovin this little guy. Wouldn’t this be a fun craft to make with the kids? Idea and picture from FamilyFun
Last year we made these, also from Family Fun. Madi was too little to enjoy these last year but Jay loved them. I’m thinking we’ll be making these again.
I know I’ve been MIA lately but I’m trying to balance this whole mommy, school, and crafting/blogging thing. Thanks for sticking with me and welcome to all my new followers. Check back soon, I have a giveaway your not going to want to miss :)
