Graduation and Baby Boy Cupcakes

HappyMemorialDay!!!
This past week went by a lot faster than I would have liked. I didn’t get a chance to post everything that I wanted to, but I had an amazing time with family.
On Friday hubby and I graduated and then Saturday we had a big party to celebrate. We had family from out of town and out of state here to celebrate our graduation. My mother in law knew it’d be the last time we’d see everyone for awhile so she though it’d be a good idea to have a graduation party and to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our baby boy all at once. It’s a little non-conventional, but it was the perfect way to celebrate both events with all of our family and friends.
I knew my in laws would throw an amazing party for us, and I wanted to make cupcakes for it.
I used my new cupcake stand.
It was my first time making this frosting and it was delicious! You can find the recipe here.
I used my Cupcake Wrapper Cartridge and cut 2 inch scalloped circles and 1 1/2inch regular circles in a light blue
I then used my Wall Decor and More Cricut Cartridge and cut 1inch onesies..aren’t they adorable??
My mother in law made these cute graduation hats so we used some of them as cupcake toppers.
I found the wrappers on clearance for $1 at Michaels.
It was such a great weekend and as exhausting as it was, I could do it over and over again.
Now to focus on making more baby things for this little boy :)
I made my first blanket last night, I’m quite happy with the way it turned out. I’ll post pics of that this week.

DIY Cupcake Stand

I’m back! Woohoo finals are over with and now it’s time to get ready for graduation this weekend. I was so excited to get back to crafting that during Madi’s nap today I made 3 different things. I just couldn’t get enough!
I’ll start with my new cupcake stand
It’s one of those things I’ve been wanting to do for months, but I didn’t have a reason to make one. Well I finally have a need for one and couldn’t resist this plate found at Target for $2.
**plus e-6000**
I sprayed it with primer then once it was dry gave it two coats of white spray paint.
Used some e-6000 around the top
 Allowed it dry completely
And I was done! I now have a cute stand for my cupcakes.
(p.s. check back in a day or two for a tutorial on some cute cupcake toppers)
On another note..I went to get my eyebrows waxed for the first time today. I was so nervous about the pain beforehand. All I could think about was Steve Carell in 40 year old virgin hahaha thankfully, it was nearly as painful as I thought it’d be :)

Strawberry Crepes

I love crepes but have always been nervous about making them. But they’re so much easier to make than I had envisioned. Crepes also versatile, with so many different filling options.

Strawberry Filled Crepes
I used this crepe recipe from Food Network

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Butter, for coating the pan
1. Mix all of the ingredients in a blender
2. Refrigerate batter for 1 hour (I made mine the night before)
3. Heat a small non-stick pan and coat with butter
4. Pour 1 ounce of batter and spread evenly
5. Cook for about 1 minute on each side

I’ve seen many variations but decided to do something simple and go with fresh cut strawberries, whipped cream, and powdered sugar.
I had to find something to do with all these delicious strawberries I’ve been picking up at the farmers market.

You can totally laugh at the fact that I couldn’t find my sifter and my powdered sugar looks ridiculous :)
Have a great weekend everyone!

Shell Embellished Frame & Candle

First of all, thank you so much for all of your sweet comments about my painted jars! I’m always amazed at how some of my most simple and easy projects are the most liked. To continue with my beach theme bathroom project I decided to make some more accessories.
A frame and candle embellished with crushed shells
Supplies:
Crushed Shells
Mod Podge
White Paint
Unfinished Frame
Candle
Spray Adhesive
I don’t have it pictured but after applying mod podge to the frame I gave it a quick spray of adhesive just to make sure the shells didn’t fall off.
I painted the frame, then once dried applied the mod podge, adhesive, and shells in sections.
I used the same method with the candle, but unlike with the frame I had to allow each section to dry completely or the shells would roll right off. Trust me, I found out rather quickly that patience is important when doing the candle.
And there you have it..a beautiful frame and candle for my guest bathroom
I hope everyone has a wonderful week! I will be studying for finals, but hopefully I’ll have a new recipe to post in a few days.
