Car Seat Straps Tutorial

I have to apologize for my lack of blogging and replying to comments. No baby yet, but I’ve been one busy mama trying to get ready for little man’s arrival. I was on bed rest up until last week so I’ve been running around like crazy trying to finish everything up and I’m exhausted. I haven’t had much time for blogging or crafting for that matter. The bed rest kind of messed up our Summer Week Themes we had planned out and my list of craft/diy projects I wanted to do.

I did pull out my sewing machine and whipped up a few baby items for Baby Z. My favorite are these…
These were actually really easy to make. I simply cut 4 pieces of fabric 5×5 inches and 2 pieces of batting (also 5×5)
I sewed a straight line 1 1/2 inches in on the left and right.
Then I made my own bias tape and sewed it around the perimeter.
Then added velcro (sorry I forgot to take pics of this step)
I also made him two blankets
 I adore this print
and a diaper and wipe holder.
This was my first time making all of these items and I’m pretty pleased with the results. I can’t wait until my friends have more babies so that I can make them some of these. They’ll make perfect baby gifts!  I feel like I still have a lot to learn about sewing but slowly I’m trying new things. Maybe next time I actually try a quilt..ahh that makes me nervous to think about. Well the doctor thinks I have less than a week before Baby Z arrives so hopefully I get a chance to post before then. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!!

Rolled Chicken Tacos

My go to meal when I’m running low on energy is this..

Every time we have left over chicken hubby asks for these. My son (who is definitely my picky eater) could eat these everyday. Quick: check..easy: check..no complaints: check! So lately we’ve been having these quite often.
I don’t have pictures but these are so easy to make.
  • Warm up oil on med-high heat
  • Warm tortillas in the microwave covered with a napkin for 1 minute
  • Roll tortillas with shredded chicken (or beef if you’d like)
  • Place them in the hot oil with the opening down so that it creates a closure and your meat doesn’t fall out
  • Sprinkle with salt while cooking
  • Cook them for a few minutes on each side
  • Once cooked, place them on a napkin to absorb the oil and sprinkle them with shredded cheese
I then top them with guacamole and sour cream. Probably not the best for anyone’s diet, but oh so delicious. They’re so good it’s easy to lose track of how many you’ve eaten.
I also wanted to add that if you don’t hear from me it means I’ve finished my current project
The doctor thinks it’ll be any day now but I’m scheduled for an induction in two weeks. Either way, we’ve been crazy busy around here getting ready. I may have gone a little overboard with the whole nesting thing and had hubby help me make the house spotless, get new furniture, new decor, and assemble all the baby gear in a matter of two days. I even managed to make a diaper and wipe clutch, a couple of blankets, baby booties, and car seat strap covers.  I will hopefully post pictures in the next few days.

Mini Star Pies

We recently made Mini Star Pies and they were a huge hit in our household.
I’m going to be honest and say that I did not use all homemade ingredients, we definitely cheated and used these items.
My big helper cutting out the stars :)
We also made some pie pops that I forgot to take pictures of before they were devoured.
For the blueberry filling I mixed fresh blueberries with a little bit of sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
Baked them for 12-15 minutes and once they were cool enjoyed these little pies.
I hope you all have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!!

Patriotic Paper Chain

While going through my scrapbook paper I found this striped red and white paper and thought hmmm what can we make with this? I paired it with a blue sheet and came up with this idea.
The kids loved putting on the star stickers.
I had pictures of the kids and I making it but if you follow me on Facebook you seen that I broke my memory card right after we finished. So I had to retake these pictures and lost everything on the other card :(
The kids are enjoying tearing off a chain each day. Madi doesn’t quite understand what we’re counting down to but that’s ok.
I also made a simple star garland a few weeks ago. Really easy and festive.

I also want to say thank you for all the tips on potty training. So far things are going well :)
Check back tomorrow to see what miniature dessert we made last night.
