I’m excited to share with you that I am participating in the Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service project for March. This month Champions for Kids has partnered with All You magazine to encourage people to use coupons to help children in need. By now you may have noticed that I like creating inexpensive crafts and often use coupons to purchase my supplies. I’ve used coupons for years and hardly ever pay for things full price. As a sahm I’ve had to get creative about making our family budget stretch and still find ways to donate to those in need. By using coupons regularly I purchase canned food items, toiletries, clothes, and toys to donate to local shelters.

 Every weekend I go through the newspaper coupon inserts, clipping the ones I know will come in handy. I’m not an extreme couponer but I like to save on everyday items like shampoo and toothpaste. I don’t currently have a subscription to All You but after seeing all of the coupons, recipes, and craft ideas I feel like I’m missing out. I purchased the March issue so that I can use the coupons on a future shopping trip. For this shopping trip I relied on my weekend newspaper coupons.

 The March issue has over $78 worth of coupons inside. Some of my favorite coupons were for Gummy Bear vitamins, several for makeup, and one for a Star Wars toothbrush that lights up like a Lightsaber.

By using coupons I was able to save $10 on my shopping trip. Here is a preview of my donation. You can see my whole shopping trip on Google +. This month I will be donating a kit to a local organization that helps pregnant women and single mothers. I will post an update next week to tell you all about the wonderful organization that will receive our donation.

Together we can make a difference in a child’s life. I know it may not always be financially easy to donate, but by using coupons and finding deals it can take off some of the financial strain and help a child in need.
