A couple of weeks ago I shared my participation in this month’s Champions for Kids SIMPLE service project. The theme for March was couponing for good. My goal was to purchase some basic necessities, canned food, and a couple of fun items with a $25 budget. By using coupons found in All You magazine and my local newspaper I was able to save on about half the items I purchased.
The best deal I scored was on the shampoo. My local newspaper had coupons for them the weekend before I went shopping. You can view my entire shopping trip on Google +. The toothbrushes were also a great deal, they were $1 for a two pack.
I used coupons on the soup and vegetables. Most of the other items were around $1. I usually stock up on canned food to donate around the holidays. Most are about half the price a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving.
My kids love to color and read so I figured adding books and coloring books to our kit would be great for another child to enjoy. The great thing about art supplies is that you can usually find them at a low price. The Easter books were very inexpensive and found in the Easter aisle of Walmart.
