As a mother of three my days are spent chasing babies, packing lunches, cleaning, playing dress up, and planning meals. Add blogging to the mix and things can get a little hectic around here. When I began blogging I didn’t think my blog would grow to what it is today. I am so incredibly grateful for the friendships I’ve made through blogging and for all my readers who keep coming back to see what I have to share. But I have to admit it can all be a little overwhelming at times. Earlier this year I was involved in a lot of blog work on top of my mommy duties. The days would come and go and at the end of the week I couldn’t remember much of what happened. It made me realize how much I needed to take a step back and make time for myself. As mothers I think we often worry about caring for others and rarely take time for ourselves. As much as I love caring for my family and blogging, I know its time to focus on finding time for myself. I even created a pinterest board for inspiration.
My husband recently noticed how overwhelmed I was getting and asked me “what’s something you like to do but haven’t done lately?” I immediately thought about reading. To me sitting down reading a good book and enjoying a cup of tea is the best way to relax.
As Summer approaches I’ve made a bucket list for myself. One of the items on my list is to read five new books by August. So this morning I went shopping for a few of my favorite things. We started our morning off by stopping at the farmer’s market for fresh berries.
Then during nap time I made myself a hot cup of green tea with a drizzle of honey and slice of lemon.
Can you guess what area I find the most relaxing? That would of course be my porch with it’s new mini makeover. To me a good book, fresh fruit, and a big cup of tea is my “me time.” Its what helps me clear my head when I’m feeling stressed or even wanting to unwind at the end of a busy day.
How do you find time for yourself? What do you find relaxing?

It is very hard as mommy to find time for ourselves. Personally I have to find some ‘shut down’ time as a mommy of two. It’s good for not only myself but for my family that I have this time so I can function at my fullest. Loved the movie The Vow. Didn’t get a chance to read the book before my hubby brought it home to me. Adore The Pioneer Woman! Do you read her blog? AMAZING! Great cozy spot for ‘mommy’ time. I have the same mug but with an A :)

I completely agree! I think the mommy breaks help us all be better mothers. I love The Pioneer Woman as well, her blog is purely amazing. I aspire to photograph just like her! :)
The strawberries look delicious! I love Pioneer Woman. Her chicken spaghetti is delish!
Chicken spaghetti? I have to try that! Thanks for telling me about it, Jodie. I’m going to look it up on her site. :)
Sounds wonderful. I look forward to hearing about your other reading selections, as well!
Have fun with the book! I don’t do girly, weepy, lovey-dovey stuff but I can’t find a better way to relax than curled up with a book and a cup of tea!!
lol! I love the “girly, weepy, lovey-dovey” books!! You’re too funny, my friend. :)
What a nice, relaxing time! I love your mug! The Vow is on my reading list as well. I just read The Hunger Games {I know, I might be the last person on earth to read it} and I’m hoping to get lots more reading done this summer.
Thanks Randi! I loved The Hunger Games, have you seen the movie? Oh and I have a slight obsession with pretty coffee mugs. This one is from anthropologie, I just HAD to have it. :)
Oh it’s so important to take time for yourself! I’m trying to focus on that more this summer too. Cheers to a few relaxing “me” moments to you and women everywhere!!

Thank you! I hope you have a nice and relaxing Summer! :)
While I don’t have kids, with everything that life has been throwing my way, I still find it hard to find me time! I look forward to reading this summer! I’m glad you got ‘you time’!
Good for you for taking some time for yourself!
I really need to try to do this more often and my husband is pushing me to do it. I like doing crafts or sitting outside in the sun to rest.
Is “The Vow” book as good as the movie?
AMEN!!! We have to have time to recharge and relax in order to do so much (and be so amazing too!) Thank you for a good reminder :)
