I have friends who have said to me that I’m superwoman because I manage to clean the house, take care of the kids, cook meals, plan activities, and still find time to craft and blog. I laugh when I hear this because a lot of people would be surprised to see the way we really live. I’m going to be honest and say that my house is a mess the majority of the time. It’s sad and embarrassing but true. For some reason my friends think that because I’m a SAHM that I can get all these things done. Let’s be real, I DO get these things done but not everyday! I’ve been a SAHM for 3 years now and I have yet to balance it all out. These ecards found on pinterest pretty much sum up my life.
But I do have a few kitchen timesavers to share. A couple of tips and tricks that I use and recently found on of course, pinterest. I don’t know about you but anything that can help me save time in the kitchen whether it’s cleaning, cooking, or preparing I’m happy to try out.
My all time favorite time saving tip is to wash your produce when you get home from the store and sort them into individual bags or containers. I do this especially for the kids snacks. This makes it easy for me to quickly grab them a snack which also helps makes sure they get their daily fruit and veggie intake.
This butter softening trick I recently found on MarthaStewart.com is genius. Definitely one of those “why didn’t I think of that” moments.
And probably one of the best ideas that I need to do more often is make freezer meals. You can create a large batch and save half of it in a container to make on those busy days when you’re running between soccer practice and dinnertime.
From Electrolux: Speaking of time saving, Electrolux induction cooktops and ranges combine the power of gas with the easy clean-up of electric, so you can boil water in just 90 seconds!1
I was compensated for this post as a member of Clever Girls Collective. All the opinions expressed here are my own.
1 10″ induction burner with Power Boost, 6 qt./10″ diameter pot, 1 qt. tepid water

These are some great tips! One of my things is to try and clean up while I go along. I HATE accumulating a sink full of dirty dishes, but if I wash and rinse as I go along, it never gets overwhelming.
making freezer meals is the best idea ever. i just recently started doing that and am now wondering why i haven’t been doing it my entire adult life! you can do all your cooking in one day or you can just make a double serving of a meal and freeze it for a day when you’re busy. plus it saves me time and money at the grocery store because it forces me to plan ahead. that way i can buy exactly what i need and cook it in the same day so i don’t have to throw anything away.
The 10 minute card is too funny…probably because it is so me:-) Just because we are SAHM’s doesn’t mean we have it all together or are June Cleaver. Love that butter trick…now if only I can remember that the next time I forget to set the butter out.

Time saved is time earned, right? ;-) Thanks for the tips! -Marci
Great tips. I really like the idea of having all the produce washed and ready.
I’d love for you to link this post to my Finished Friday Blog Party!
Thanks for the butter tip!! I have heard of softening it by using the flat of a knife and squishing it, which does work BUT is time consuming when you need the butter straight away.

We organise the packed lunches the night before – it takes so much longer in the mornings. I like batch cooking too. I often combined cooking snacks with spending time with their children.
I love the tips! I use those same containers for my 3 years olds snacks and he can now open and close them by himself. They are super easy and then everyone knows where the snacks are :) And they can see what is in the container. Interesting tip on the butter…. I will have to remember that one!!
