Tape Track and VTech Switch & Go Dinos

VTech Switch & Go Dinos

Last week the kids received something fun in the mail. They’re always excited when I receive a package, with their little hands eager to help tear it open and see what’s inside. This was no different but their reaction was something worth remembering. I wish I could’ve captured their expressions when they saw that what was hidden in the large brown box were three VTech Switch & Go Dinos. “Toys, Mom someone sent you toys!” My daughter yelled. She was so excited to open them up!

The Switch & Go Dinos are perfect for boys and girls. They’re easy to transform between vehicle and dino, which is like having two different toys. In Dino mode you can hear the dinosaur noises and pretend you’re back in time. Then in vehicle mode an engine roars making it fun for the kids to pretend they’re driving all around the house.  These toys are perfect for the little ones imagination, they lead to creativity and are also educational. They make up to 80 different phrases and sounds which includes dinosaur facts. Fun and educational? That’s my kind of toy!

Another cool feature is the LCD screen which changed between a driver and dinosaur eyes depending on the mode they’re in.

Span the Spinosaurus transforms into a jet instead of a car, this was my daughters favorite. It makes over 70 sounds/phrases and comes with 7 additional toy pieces. It’s a smaller dino which is perfect for younger children.

Brok was the biggest of them all. This dino has some pretty sweet features like launching a race car and stomping when pushed.

We decided to have a little fun with it and made painters tape track throughout the living room. The kids thought this was the coolest thing EVER!

What I like about the Switch & Go Dinos is that they’re multifunctional with two different toy capabilities and educational all in one. It’s not often we find toys that have all the features the Switch & Go dinos have.

Would your child like to win a lifetime supply of Vtech toys? Well then be sure to check out the Show & Tell contest Vtech is currently running called Switch & Go. What’s great about it is that you don’t have to own a VTech Dino to enter the contest! Your child can draw or build their own Dino then submit their entry by October 1st. To enter visit the Vtech Facebook page.

Mod Podge Fabric Pumpkins

Fabric Pumpkins

I seem to be in the middle of a pumpkin decorating craze. So far I’ve decorated seven pumpkins and it’s not even October! My new Mod Podge Fabric Pumpkins are the perfect addition to the ever growing pumpkin collection around my home.

Fabric Pumpkins

A few weeks ago I received a box full of Mod Podge products that I’m excited to use throughout the holiday season. Take a look at all this awesome stuff! I can’t wait to use the glitter dimensional magic and photo transfer Mod Podge for Christmas gifts.

With my new mod podge and som dollar store pumpkins I made BOO pumpkins for my living room.

Fabric Pumpkin

Want to make fabric pumpkins of your own? Well here’s an easy fabric pumpkin tutorial to help you get started.

Mod Podge
Hot Glue

Begin by cutting strips of fabric (mine were 1.25 inch wide). Make sure you cover your working surface, this is a messy project!

Dip your fabric into the mod podge, making sure it’s fully soaked. I found that it’s easier to work with and smooth air bubbles out if the fabric is heavily coated with Mod Podge. For this project I used the Outdoor Mod Podge because my initial plan was to set them on my porch, but matte would work great too.

Start at the top and lay your fabric down, smoothing any bubbles along the way.

Once you’re finished allow them to dry. I chose to paint my stem black, this optional but I think it helped give it a finished look. Then of course I had to add something extra so I found these black wooden letters at Michaels to spell out BOO on the pumpkins. A little glitter ribbon gave them the cute, girly look I was looking for.

Mod Podge Pumpkins

This is a great way to transform those dollar store pumpkins that aren’t so pretty on the outside but hold infinite possibilities.

BOO Pumpkins

Now to figure out where to place them. I’m in the middle of a living room makeover and am having a hard time deciding where I want my Halloween display. I also can’t decide if I like them on top of the black fabric or not. What do YOU think looks best?

Avengers Party {Family Movie Night}

Avengers Cupcake Toppers

We have some big Marvel fans in our home, specifically my husband and oldest son. My husband is such a big Marvel fan that we debated my entire pregnancy about naming our youngest Charles Xavier Owens (X-Men). Needless to say I won that debate. But that hasn’t stopped him from turning all three kids into Marvel fans just like he was growing up (and still is!). Earlier this year it was his turn to pick our date night and he chose to go see The Avengers. I ended up loving it! I wasn’t very familiar with the characters at the time but all the action and witty remarks from Robert Downey Jr. had me glued to the screen. I’ve been waiting months for the Blu-Ray movie release but my son was even more excited since he didn’t get to see it in theaters. To celebrate the Blu-Ray/DVD movie release we had an Avengers family night! We had a small Avengers party that the whole family could enjoy.

Avengers Party Decor

I made Avengers cupcake toppers using the same die from my Halloween treats. All I did was make the rosettes then added Avengers stickers in the center. It was very simple and the kids loved them! The Avengers Cupcake Toppers

I found some Avengers paper plates, masks, and napkins for our party, nothing extravagant but it was fun for the kids. While shopping for party supplies we played the Avengers augmented reality app at Walmart to unlock activities by using the trigger points throughout the store. My son thinks this app is so cool! We’ve never played an interactive app like this so it was a fun experience for the both of us. My Walmart only had a few displays at the time but you should be able to find them in the deli, toys, apparel, Halloween, and electronics department.

Red, White, and Blue Decor

We also picked up a Marketside pizza from the deli. It had the Avengers displayed on the box which could also be used with the app. We scanned it to unlock a scene..I’m not into video games but it was pretty awesome! Look at the picture on the right, I’m holding my phone directly above the box using the app. This was our first time trying Marketside pizza and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. Plus I didn’t have to cook for the night so it was a win-win. ;)

We also obtained a copy of the limited edition Avengers graphic novel. The Blu-Ray/DVD/Novel combo pack can be ordered from Walmart. #MarvelAvengersWMT

Check out these Avengers masks…I couldn’t stop laughing while trying to take this picture. The kids loved them!

The Avengers Party

So tell me who is your favorite Avengers character? Mine is definitely Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is hilarious in the movie!

Halloween Spider Pumpkin

Lifestyle Crafts Tricks 'N Treats

I can’t stop making black & white Halloween decorations this year..I just love the combo! I also can’t get over these cute little white pumpkins I found at Target recently. With some new Lifestyle Crafts cutting dies I was able to transform a plain white pumpkin into a spooky spider pumpkin to add to my Halloween decor.

Lifestyle Crafts Tricks 'N Treats

From the new Tricks ‘N Treats collection I used the Spiderweb Punches die to embellish this itty bitty pumpkin. I simply cut the dies out then ran them through my Xyron machine. Off topic but I purchase this at Michaels about 6 years ago and recently found it in my garage with the original cartridge. What was I thinking!?! I love this thing! Have you used one? You can create stickers out of anything that will fit. I purchased it for my scrapbooking but as you can see I’m way behind on my scrapbooking if I just recently discovered it again. My only complaint about using it with such small dies is that a lot of the stickiness got on top of the spiders. But overall I like my new Halloween spider pumpkin, it’s different and the colors work perfectly with my decor.

Have YOU pulled out the Halloween decorations? What are your favorite Halloween colors?

That Time My Site Was Down…

So last week/this weekend didn’t go as I had planned. I had so much going on and posts planned through the weekend..then my site was attacked. Umm yeah, if you tried to visit sometime last week you might have noticed. Apparently some started having issues with it as early as Tuesday but I didn’t become aware of the problem until Friday morning.  The ad network I was a part of used a third party with a malware ad which affected my site. I read somewhere that some 10,000 + blogs were affected because of it. Google blocked my site, which was a nightmare! Luckily I was able to find out about the issue from a few other bloggers on a facebook group who were having the same problem. I removed the ad, deactivated my account with the network and finally had my block released from Google late Saturday night. I’m pretty sure I cried happy tears when I read on my webmaster tools that Google did not find any malware on A Pumpkin & A Princess. It was a HUGE sigh of relief to know the whole ordeal was over with.

I want to say THANK YOU to all my readers who took the time to email and facebook message me letting me know you were having problems with my site. I am seriously blown away with everyone’s support, thank you it means a lot knowing someone is reading this little ol’ blog of mine. :)

I also couldn’t have made it past this whole ordeal without the support of my awesome friends who were so supportive during those stressful days and my husband (the biggest supporter of my blog) who kept me smiling throughout all of it.

So now I’m back! I have some fun posts coming up this week too. I have a few crafts to share including a Halloween one using Mod Podge, a recipe I wasn’t able to share last week, and an Avengers themed family night.

Oatmeal Raisinets Cookies

Oatmeal Raisinets Cookies

By now you may have realized that I have a passion for baking. Not only to eat tasty treats but also for the memories I create with my children. Baking was such a big part of my childhood, it’s the dearest memory I have with my mother growing up. I remember checking out cookbooks from the library and always having a new recipe request to make. My mother would take me to the store with my recipe list in hand, happily encouraging me to experiment in the kitchen. These are the memories I look to recreate with my own children and hope that they look back on when they’re older. Today I’m sharing with you an Oatmeal Raisinets Cookie recipe we recently made together.

With the start of the Raisinets Enlightened Enjoyment sweepstakes it made me reflect on the things that bring joy into my life. My family is my number one source of joy and fulfillment, they are what complete me. Yesterday we had a picnic at the park and I honestly can’t remember the last time I had such a great time. There’s something about playing with the kids out in a big open soccer field that makes my heart melt. There are plenty of other things that bring joy to my life. Besides spending quality time with my family I love baking, reading, running, crafting, and sharing ideas with all of YOU!

Halloween Treats: Candy Tubes

Halloween is right around the corner and you may not be thinking about Halloween treats just yet but I’m excited to share a few ideas with you over the next month. Today I’m sharing with you my Halloween Candy Tubes.

Halloween Treats: Candy Tubes

The Lifestyle Crafts second Fall core collection was just released and I was excited to try out a few new dies. But of course I’m always excited about the Lifestyle Crafts releases. In fact my son dropped my entire collection of dies on the floor this past weekend, which meant I had to reorganize them. Going through them made me remember about some cute dies I haven’t used in awhile. I have to say this is the first time that a huge mess actually turned into a crafting session (which of course almost always ends in a big mess..but that’s another story). As I was saying Lifestyle Crafts released their second shipment of the Fall Core Collection and the dies are adorable. Take a look…

Besides the Doily Rosette die my favorites are the Lattice Doily and Flower Pinwheel dies.

Lifestyle Crafts Rosette Die

I was excited to try out the Doily Rosette die because we all know how I love paper rosettes. The rosette die has a cute flare that’s perfect for party decor, cupcake toppers, or in this case for Halloween favors. I used the Doily Rosette die, Martha Stewart stickers, candy test tubes found at Michaels, and bakers twine from The Twinery to create these Halloween treats.

Halloween Candy Tubes

To make the candy tubes I cut the die out, glued it together and added a sticker to the center. I glued the paper rosette onto the tube, making it easy to remove and reuse if needed. To finish it off I tied a black and green bakers twine bow on top. Very simple and the possibilities are endless! Think about the party banners and favors you could customize with this die!
