Life of Pi Inspired Gift

When I began working on my gift list a few weeks ago the first person I thought about buying a gift for is my sister in law. She recently passed the California bar and I wanted to give her a gift to congratulate her. Since she lives in San Francisco there isn’t a chance I’ll see her before Christmas so I decided to save the gift for her.

One of her favorite stores is World Market, its where she recently found a beautiful set of chairs for her new apartment. I plan to visit her place soon and I can’t wait for you to see everything she’s been working on. She even made a new headboard that I love! So while browsing through the store a few weeks ago I saw the Life of Pi items displayed at the front of the store. I knew right away I had to see if they had anything I could get her. My sister in law has a unique style. She’s traveled all over the world and loves bright colors and patterns. To name a few she studied abroad in Africa while in college then lived in Mongolia for three years in the peace corps. I really think this is where her unique cultural style comes from.

Here is what I’m including in her gift basket. I thought the items below reminded me of the Life of Pi movie and my sister in laws style.

I love this lotus candle holder made in India. I really like the rustic feel of it paired with the red and gold candle.

The last time my sister in law was in town she noticed this colorful stacked mug set in a World Market newspaper ad. I knew as soon as I saw it in store that I wanted to get it for her.

I adore the glitter elephant ornament! She could remove the string and use it on her table top decor.

Have you watched the Life of Pi movie or read the book? Its about an boy named Pi, a zookeeper’s son, who survives a disaster at sea and is thrown into an epic journey. While adrift in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with another a fearsome Bengal tiger. I plan to pick up the book over Christmas vacation then watch the movie.

World Market is currently hosting a Life of Pi Sweepstakes.
