Hey, hey crafty friends! I’m in Utah for SNAP Conference with 400 creative bloggers and having a blast meeting bloggy friends in real life! Today I have a quick project to share that’s perfect for Mother’s Day. It’s a faux etched vase that I made with frosted vinyl.
Remember the Mother’s Day flower vase from last year? I recently saw it in my mother’s living room and wanted to make one for my home as well. This time around I used frosted vinyl to create a faux etched design on the vase. The vinyl is a light, transparent silver that appears etched on glass and mirrors.
DIY Faux Etched Vase
To make the faux etched flower vase I used a dollar store vase, frosted vinyl, adhesive pearl embellishments, and a flower punch. This project really couldn’t be any simpler to make, it took me maybe 10 minutes from start to finish.
I used the punch to cut flowers out, about 15 total, then stuck them on a vase. Usually when working with vinyl you want to use transfer paper but since this flower design doesn’t have intricate detail I just peeled the back off like you would with a sticker. A pearl embellishment fancied the vase up a bit and that’s it!
I love this. I have quite a few plain vases at home and now I can fancy them up a bit. Thanks for the tutorial.
Super cute!! Thanks for sharing!
So cute..the pearls are a great touch!
Ooo, lovely!! The pearls are super cute on it. I need to use this for a few glass things around our house.

Um this is super cute and so simple to make!!!
Love this! I am a flower gardener and have a ton of clear glass (boring) containers/vases. This will be a fun project. I love it that it takes only a few minutes to make. I am of the impatient sort. ;-) Thanks! Blessings.
I don’t have a Silhouette, but I’m wondering if you could use frosted contact paper and some paper punches to achieve a similar look? Has anyone tried this method or am I the last person on the planet to not have a Silhouette/Cricut?! 8-)
