Last year we started a new tradition of inviting friends over for an ice cream party to celebrate the beginning of summer. It’s now one of our favorite traditions! Nothing says Summer like ice cream, friends, and playing in the backyard late into the night. So we invited our friends over for an ice cream float party to help us kick off a fun filled Summer.
I don’t think toppings are traditionally used in ice cream floats but I thought it would be fun to let the kids sprinkle some on for our party. We picked up Nestle buncha crunch, butterfingers bites, mini ores, and chocolate sprinkles. The kids loved the mini toppings!
I seem to have a thing for unfinished wood crates lately. I picked up these crates at Michaels and planned on staining them but I liked the contrast it gave against the brown and orange decor. I also filled them with brown paper shreds you would normally use for gift wrap. I wanted to stick with a brown and orange theme to match the ice cream and soda packaging and think it fit perfectly.
How fun are these mason jars with handles? I found these at Walmart for less than a buck each…score! Of course I had to throw in striped brown and white paper straws for added cuteness.
I quickly whipped up paper medallions and a mini pendant garland to hang from the bottom of the mirror. It was simple and super easy to make in less than 30 minutes.
This was one of the best play dates we’ve had in a long time. The kids had a blast and of course I always enjoy the company of my two best fiends! :)
p.s. if you haven’t tried an orange ice cream float do me a favor and make one asap! They are the bomb!
Here’s to a fun filled summer with plenty of ice cream floats to look forward to!
