Hey friends! Today I’m sharing an ikea hack – a bamboo dish set turned succulent planter box.
Are you a fan of succulents? They’re everywhere these days! I have to admit that when I first started seeing succulent projects last year I wasn’t quite sold on the trend. Of course after seeing them more and more they’ve grown on me. I’ve been wanting to make a succulent planter for awhile now and knew this was the perfect opportunity.
Ikea sent some bloggers a couple of sets of the Dragan bamboo boxes and challenged us to use them in a creative way. The boxes are actually bathroom dish sets but I knew as soon as I saw them they would make the perfect succulent planter for the kitchen.
The challenge was to create a project under $10. Since I already had soil at home I spent a whooping total of $10 on succulents. One of the plants had multiple succulents so I separated those for another project.
Succulent Box Planter
To make my succulent planter I filled the box halfway with soil then arranged the succulents. I then topped it off with more soil. Easy peasy!
I hear succulents are easy to care for and don’t require much attention, other than a light watering here and there. I don’t know if my plants were a little dehydrated but I found them a tad bit difficult to arrange without parts breaking off. Since I have a hard time keeping plants alive I hope this succulent planter is good to me.
super cute!

Great succulent planter. I did a succulent post on craftberry bush that ended up right next to yours. What timing. Succulents are so fun to use in containers and bouquets.
Such a great idea! Succulents are so versatile :)
LOVE! I so want some succulents at my office at work and this inspired me to finish the project!
Love this ikea hack! I’m all about succulents right now–super simple to maintain.
How did the plants end up doing? Just got bumped here from Apartment Therapy, excited to try it!
