How to make glitter vinyl tube bracelets – easy summer craft for girls.
Hey crafty friends! I have a throwback craft project for you today. Do you remember the vinyl tube bracelets from the 90s? Possibly 80s? You guys, I used to LOVE these sparkly bracelets as a kid. I think that’s the best thing about having a girl..I get to share with her some of my childhood favorites. Since summer vacation began I’ve been determined to introduce her to some of my favorite childhood crafts, toys, and of course clothing (with 90s attire being all the rage right now). Last week we made these glitter vinyl tube bracelets and I couldn’t help remaninsnce back to when they were my favorite accessory. This vinyl tube bracelet tutorial is the perfect summer activity for girls of all ages.
Glitter Tube Bracelets
Supplies:
- 1/4” clear PVC vinyl tubing
- 3/8” clear PVC vinyl tubing
- glitter
- tape
- glitter funnel
- scissors
- e6000 glue
Step one: wrap tubing around wrist then add to length to ensure the bracelet can slip on and off easily. You will also need about an inch of 3/8″ tubing. I found the clear PVC tubing at Lowes for around 15 cents a foot. The glitter tubes and funnel are from Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.
Step two: use a small funnel to fill the clear tubes with glitter. My funnel was around the same size as the tubing, if you can try to find a funnel with a smaller tip than the tubing. Regardless of the size it was still easier and less messy to use the funnel than trying to pour the glitter any other way. You’ll want to tape off one end while filing the tubing with glitter.
Step three: once your bracelet has been filled use e6000 or hot glue to secure the 3/8″ tubing to each side of the 1/4″ tubing. The glue will ensure the glitter stays in place even if the tubing opens. And then you’re done!
This was such a fun project to make with Madilynn. I can gaurantee she’ll have more arm candy by the end of the summer. She’ already asked to make fourth go July glitter bracelets for the parade. I might just make some for myself as well! :)

I love these, but I’m confused as to how they keep the shape and how to close/open them? Am I missing something? Excellent idea and I would love to try this.
A round pastry tip would make a great tiny funnel for these!
Hello,
How long did it take for the glue to dry? I would love to make these with my girl scouts.

So cute, great retro craft! I shared it on Facebook, it was a hit! https://www.facebook.com/CraftsbyAmanda/photos/a.353593675216.349539.323548680216/10154338968930217/?type=1
It’s funny, I grew up as an 80’s child and I don’t remember these. But I love the idea and I will definitely be making these with the 4th grade girls I help teach at church. They will love them!
