Movie night snacks – candy filled mason jars with chalkboard name tags and popcorn containers with printable movie night tags.
We are a movie night lovin’ family! With summer vacation in full swing we’ve enjoyed movie nights more often than I can ever remember. Every day the kids will ask “can we have movie night with popcorn, pleeeaaassse?” I’m not even sure if our usual Friday movie night is sacred anymore with how often we’re spending every other day nestled in forts with our eyes glued to the television. Our latest movie on repeat is The Lego Movie…ohhh man, have you heard the “Everything is Awesome” song? The kids LOVE it! They laugh at me when the guy steps into the coffee shop (*ahem starbucks*) and the cashier says that’ll be $37..in which he pauses then yells “AWESOME!” If you’re ever on my instagram you know how loyal at I am to their delicious goodness. So back to movie night, as I was saying the kids have been enjoying staying up late watching movies after dinner quite often. Sometimes I like to make things a little fun by decorating a small snack table or making special themed snacks that go with the movie. Recently I made these candy filled mason jars with chalkboard label name tags. We received the chalkboard labels from Bright Star Kids to try and I knew they would be perfect for snacks.
The Bright Star Kids labels come in a pack with various sizes. I picked out the circle/oval, star, and heart kits to try. Those star kits will be in a back to school project in the near future! I’ve tried many chalkboard labels over the years and I have to say that these are definitely high quality, durable labels. They’re not flimsy and they have a nice texture for chalk pens and pencils. Did you know chalk pencils exist? I had no clue until I spotted them on their website. The pencil is great for small or intricate chalkboard designs.
For the wide mouth mason jars I used the largest circle chalkboard label set and filled the jars with treats. I used mini Oreo or Chip Ahoy cookies. I then a mix of M&M’s, gummy bears, gummy works, and Twizzlers.
In addition to the candy filled mason jars I made these movie night printables for the kids popcorn. Download printable here.
The kids loved their treats!
Now I’m off to watch The Lego movie for the hundredth time. :)
