Black and white home decor
My husband and I started this year off with a list of home improvement goals we wanted to accomplish. In the 4 years since we’ve purchased our home we’ve done very little to the appearance and I wanted to change that this year. Earlier this year we repainted nearly every room and updated our floors. We put in dark hardwood floors that make the living room appear like a whole new room. It’s definitely my favorite renovation so far. After the floors were installed last spring I wanted to rearrange our living room with new furniture pieces. We’re one the hunt for a new couch set but have already switched out the wall decor and a console table got a chalk paint makeover. When our friends over at Sauder asked if I’d like to review a piece from their website I knew exactly what would fit perfectly in the living room. Our new storage hutch is great for displaying decor and keeping items stored when its time to redecorate.
The store space in the hutch is amazing. It has a cabinet on the bottom with a large shelve for even greater use of the space. Right now I’m using the cabinet to store home decor items that I’ve switched out over the summer. In addition to cabinet there’s a spacious drawer where I’m keeping small decorations and banners I’ve made for parties and holidays. Speaking of holidays I can’t wait to decorate the hutch for Halloween and Christmas. It’ll be easy to store away the current decor for holiday pieces.
I’m currently lovin’ black and white home decor. The hutch is a creamy off-white so I wanted dark decor that stands out. I used inexpensive decorations that I’ve had around the house and a few faux greenery from Michaels and Target.
This camera is my favorite piece! It’s actually a piggy bank that I found at Michaels for half off. Isn’t the black and gold pretty?
The rustic lantern and world globe are more favorites that I found stored around the house. There’s a rustic trunk on the same shelve and it kind of, unintentionally, has a traveling theme going on.
The faux beadboard looks great against the decor. There are precut holes for plugins above each shelve, which makes it easy to display lights (another reason I can’t wait to decorate for the holidays).
I was very impressed with how sturdy this piece is. It was easy to put together, it took me about an hour and a half. I’m happy with how well it fits with our current decor and furniture. Â I’ll definitely share some holiday decor styling with you in the upcoming months!
