Weekends for us are usually somewhere between running around like crazy, trying to fit in sports and family activities and then relaxing. Saturday mornings are spent driving across town for soccer and Sundays are meant for naps on the couch. One thing we always make sure to do on the weekends is enjoy a good, hearty breakfast. It’s not often we can convince the kids to skip our regular pancake weekend breakfast but when we do we make sure it’s in exchange for something that they will all enjoy. This ham and fried egg sandwich is a family favorite, especially with the kids! The sandwich is made with 3 slices of Hillshire Farm black forest ham, fried eggs (or scrambled for the kids), sharp cheddar cheese in between artisan bread from our local bakery. Only 4 ingredients, but packed with flavor!
We recently picked up the new Hillshire Farm natural deli meats at Walmart in their deli meat and cheese aisle and had to give them a try. Hillshire Farms brand new line of lunchmeat is made without artificial ingredients, preservatives, colors or added nitrates. You can find the naturals line in Turkey Breast, Hardwood Smoked Turkey Breast, Honey Roasted Ham, and Black Forest Ham. In addition to the ham we tried the Hardwood Smoked Turkey Breast for a picnic we had on Saturday. As much as I love a good turkey sandwich I can’t get over how tasty the black forest ham is. I see myself making ham grilled cheese sandwiches a lot in the near future.
