Every year we spend the day before the first day of school celebrating the end of summer vacation and the upcoming school year. We allow the kids to pick their favorite meal, which is no easy feat between the three of them. After a day of family time, playing board games and doing silly YouTube challenges, we say our prayers and we wish them good luck. This year I thought it would be fun to give them little treat after dinner. You see, my kids LOVE fortune cookies. I thought it would be cute to give them little Chinese takeout boxes with fortune cookies inside. Funny thing is that when I purchased the cookies at our local grocery store the clerk said, “I hope you have a fortunate day.” So I repeatedly that wish to the kids and told them I hoped they had a fortunate school year. They were a big hit and really easy to make!
Supplies:
Gold Glitter Vinyl from Expressions Vinyl
Takeout boxes from Michaels
Cricut machine
As you can probably guess, this took like three seconds to make. Okay not really, but close enough. I had another idea with a fun saying on the front but I kept messing up the vinyl (and gold glitter vinyl is too pretty to waste) so I resorted to finding a simple apple shape in the Cricut online store.
Once I cut the shapes out I simply peeled them off the mat and applied the apple to the front of the box. I then added a glitter ribbon I had leftover from the holidays (side note: I stock up/hoard glittery holiday ribbon to use throughout the year, it’s cheapest and prettiest during Christmas time).
Super simple and easy, right? I love making little things like this for the kids and they’re always so happy to receive them. Now that school is in session, who is ready for Fall? *raises hand*
adorable! We love fortune cookies at this house!
Love it!! Did you ever announce a winner?
