Everyday sandwiches are a thing of the past! With endless inspiration on Pinterest, parents can get creative when it comes to making their child’s lunch. While I adore character and themed lunch box ideas, it’s hard to find the time to create a themed lunch box everyday. My style leans towards something fun, but quick and easy. We like to make kabobs or roll-ups to switch things up from the boring everyday sandwich. My kid’s favorite lunch is hands-down mini pizzas. They love it when I surprise them with a DIY pizza lunch box. Today I’m sharing a few tips on how you can send your kids to school with their own mini pizza kits using ingredients from home.
To start you’ll need to pick bread for the crust. We love naan, an oven-baked flatbread, which works really well for this lunch box idea. Not to get off topic, but if you haven’t tried this type of bread run out and pick up a pack today. It is seriously the best! We like to grill it or warm it up in the oven and use it for a variety of recipes. Okay, so where were we? Next, you’ll need a circle dough cutter to make the mini pizza crust.
Lunch Box Mini Pizza
Use small containers for the cheese, sauce, and mini pepperoni. You can find reusable containers or disposable cups with lids at Target.
Another lunch box essential for us are Wet Ones individual antibacterial hand wipes. I would hope my kids are washing their hands before lunch, but just in case I like to keep a box of these wipes on hand. These individual packs are so handy and they’re small enough to fit into their lunch pack without taking up space. They’re a must, especially when I’m sending food that they’ll need to touch a lot. As a mom who sanitizes everything in sight, all I can picture when I think of them making mini pizzas without sanitizing their hands is the Jimmy Fallon “Ewwww Face” his character Sara makes. :) Bottom line, I’m glad I can pick up Wet Ones wipes from Target to send in their lunch bag.
