How to make a Star Wars Death Star bath bomb

Star Wars fans, I have a fun handmade gift idea to share with you today. Over the summer we had a Star Wars party for my little guy and we bought a bunch of Star Wars candy molds. I made a variety of Yoda, Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, and R2D2 candies to give as party favors. After the party I turned to my husband and said “what in the world am I going to do with all of these silicon molds now?” He immediately replied with Bath Bombs! You know you’re a blogger when everyone in the family helps brainstorm blog ideas with you. He’s been encouraging me to make them ever since. Well, this week I finally put his idea to the test and made a Star Wars Death Star Bath Bomb.

How to make a Star Wars Death Star bath bombIf you’ve ever looked through my site you may have noticed how much I love making my own bath bombs. They’re easy to make and can be customized with your favorite essential oils. Once you have the supplies on hand it’s a fraction of the cost to make your own than it is to buy them from the store. Which is why I love finding creative molds to use. The Death Star mold is labeled as an ice cube mold but it works great as a soap and bath bomb mold as well. I’ve added Amazon affiliate links to the products I used below.

1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup Citric Acid
1/2 cup Corn Starch
3 tbsp Epsom Salt
2 tsp Sweet Almond Oil
3/4 tsp water
15-20 Essential Oil
Silver Pearl Dust or soap colorant

I made a quick video tutorial with the updated recipe. Hope this helps! :)

Step one: Prepare your mold by brushing silver pearl dust inside.

Step two: In a large bowl combine baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and epsom salts. Optional: add a little pearl dust for a light grey tint to your bath bomb mixture.

Step three: In a small bowl combine almond oil, water and essential oil.

Step four: Pour wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Mix with a whisk until fully combined. Test mixture by pressing a handful together. If the mixture doesn’t hold, LIGHTLY spray water once or twice with a spray bottle. Avoid adding too much water or the mixture will fizz and not form in the mold correctly.

Step five: press mixture into mold; dry overnight. Carefully remove from mold.

Note: when removing the bath bomb one end will come right out, the other may be a little tricky to remove. Loosen the mold around the bath bomb and press from the bottom to help release it.
