DIY Tin Can Organizers – keep craft supplies organized with tins cans, paint, and washi tape.
This post is brought to you by DecoArt.
Hi friends! How’s the New Year treating you? I’ve been focused on de-cluttering our home since the weekend after Christmas. I love this time of year because I feel inspired and motivated to make things tidy. I don’t know what happens the rest of the year but somehow I always get back to organizing things I’ve organized at the beginning of the previous year. This time around I’m trying to keep my craft supplies as neat as possible. For a craft hoarder that seems a little impossible but I’m determined to simplify and stay as organized as I can this year. The biggest change I’ve made is making my massive desk an actual functioning workspace. This area has always been a catchall for supplies and if I’m spilling secrets then you might as well know that I have never actually used my laptop on the desk until recently. Sadly it was THAT messy with craft supplies. Since my major workspace transformation I’m loving the organization and being able to work on my laptop while at my desk. I wanted to bring in some color to my workspace so I quickly whipped up these DIY tin can organizers using Americana multi-surface paint and washi tape.
You can find all of the supplies I used at Michaels.
Supplies:
Americana multi-surface paint in Pink Cadillac & Coastal Waters
Galvanized tin cans
Heidi Swapp washi tape
Step one: Add 1-2 coats of paint on your tin cans. I let my first coat dry for a few hours before adding the second coat of paint.
Step two: Once your second coat is completely dry add a strip or two of washi tape around the can. I’m completely smitten with how this floral tape pairs with the Pink Cadillac paint.
I filled mine with pens and paintbrushes but I can seem myself using these tins cans for as flower vases too.
I also wanted to share a small version of my paint cubby. I painted this smaller cubby with chalky paint by mixing a few colors together. I added this in my craft hutch to store some of my paint favorite colors.
Cute! Love the simplicity of the project. Makes it actually do-able!
