How to make a faux hand lettered coffee mug
Hello friends! It’s been a busy week here as we prepare for Halloween. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but my son’s birthday is on Halloween. He’s turning 13 this year so I’ve been trying to come up with fun ideas to celebrate. I know as soon as Halloween is over the holidays will completely take over our lives. Our tree will be up next week for the Michaels Dream Tree challenge then it’s madness for the next two months. Before we get ahead of ourselves I want to share a quick Thanksgiving idea with you today. I’m partnering with Expression Vinyl to share this faux hand lettered grateful coffee mug.
I’m sure you’ve noticed the hand lettering trend over the last year. I love hand lettering projects, except my handwriting is not up to par. So when I had this idea to create a faux hand lettered coffee mug I knew my silhouette could save the day.
Hand Lettered Grateful Coffee Mug
Supplies:
Black Expressions Vinyl
Silhouette Cameo
Clear Transfer Tape
Mug
Step one: select an image in the Silhouette software or design your own. I found this beautiful image by searching “grateful” in the silhouette store. There were several to pick from but I really liked the laurel wreath on this one. Size your shape to fit your mug. Mine is about 3×3 but I probably could have made it a little bigger.
Step two: cut your vinyl and weed out the excess vinyl.
Step three: use transfer tape to apply the vinyl to your mug. This clear transfer tape is my favorite! It really helps align your vinyl perfectly.
I really enjoy giving coffee mug gifts so this perfect for sharing with someone you’re grateful for this holiday season. Fill it with coffee and chocolate and you have a great handmade gift!
Hello! This looks lovely! Is this dishwasher safe?? Will the vinyl peel? Thank you!
Thank you! I’ve had luck with permanent vinyl staying on for years. I believe the permanent Oracle vinyl is called 651. Hope that helps!
