Melting snowmen Oreo balls and Ugly Sweater Party Ideas.
One of the great things about holiday season is that it brings people together to celebrate this festive time of year. There’s office parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and many more reasons to celebrate. Sometimes you don’t need a reason and it’s nice to gather with friends for a fun party, i.e. an Ugly Sweater Party. This year we’re hosting our first Ugly Sweater Party with a close group of friends. The kids are excited to find the most ridiculous looking sweaters and make them even more exciting with buttons, glitter, and tree decorations. Since we’re in the middle of a busy holiday season I’m aiming for easy appetizers and treats that don’t take a lot of time to make. These melting snowmen Oreo cookie balls are perfect for our party and can be made with only 5 ingredients.
The melting snowmen Oreo balls are made with 3 basic ingredients – Oreo cookie crumbs, cream cheese, and white chocolate. Once your snowmen are formed add a mini Oreo as a hat and icing for the face.
I like to use a small cookie scoop to create evenly sized Oreo balls. One the balls are formed I also like to place them in the refrigerator to firm up a bit before dipping.
Once the Oreo cookie balls are covered in chocolate I gently place a mini Oreo on top and allow the chocolate to completely hard before adding the face. In the Nabisco recipe you’ll see that you can use decorating icing for the mouth, eyes, and nose. I didn’t have the colors available so I used confettie sprinkles for the eyes and an icing writers pen for the nose. The mouth can be made with icing pens into a smile or a small dots to create a button smile.

If you’ve never hosted an Ugly Sweater party you may find that a local thrift store is great for finding inexpensive sweaters. By using thrift store sweaters you could make mug warmers, flowers, mittens, anything holiday related with the sweaters to create festive party decor. Or simply use decorations to create a funny sweater guests are sure to get a laugh at.
