Paper Flower Centerpiece
I’ve always enjoyed making paper flowers for home décor and party tablescapes. I recently made giant paper flowers for a tablescape that I’m in love with! Have you seen the new Big Bloom paper flowers available at Michaels? It’s part of their Recollections brand and come in a variety of colors. These paper flowers are HUGE! They’re perfect for hanging on walls or creating a party backdrop with. I used the flowers to create a paper flower centerpiece. The table table runner was made with a long sheet of moss (moss table runner also from Michaels) and flowers in various sizes.
Update: this kit is no longer available but you can find a template for these giant flowers HERE
The paper flower kit comes with everything you need to make big blooms. Each petal has a slit on the bottom that allows you to overlap the pieces. The kit comes with tape, but I knew I wanted something sturdier so that I could reuse the flowers in my daughter’s room. Therefore I used a small dab of hot glue on each petal then slightly overlapped the bottom. By doing this your flower will resemble the shape and curves of a real flower.
For each flower there are 9 large, 6 medium, and four small petals. Each flower also has a circle that you glue the petals on and a centerpiece. You simply glue the large petals around the circle first, and then work your way down with the small petals. Finish the flower with your fringed center and you’re done!
These are super simple to make and look beautiful. After using them as a table centerpiece I hung them on the wall in my daughter’s room. I can definitely see myself reusing them for a party backdrop for her birthday this summer. Another great idea for the Big Bloom flowers is to hang them up in a baby nursery.
So pretty and practical since you can reuse in other ways. Gotta love that. Haven’t been to Michaels for couple weeks, have to stay out of that place, really dangerous for me to be in there. My hubs says I’d spend the mtg. and grocery money in there, hate to admit he’s most likely right. We have Michaels, Jo-Ann’s and Hobby Lobby all on one road in Grand Junction, CO within fairly close proximity to each other, have to practice some will power when I go to town. We’re about 18 miles west from outskirts of G.J.
These flowers are so wonderful, sure make it easy for anybody to make pretty flowers, you did great job putting them together.
I’ve been spending too much time on LiaGriffith.com blog printing out how-to’s and patterns but if in a hurry or want to make more flowers Recollections would be perfect. Looks like they have it all right where you need it. I’d better stay away from those. What weight paper do they use? Looks like cardstock, love colors they used. Sure glad you showed us these new flowers, would be perfect for baby shower/bridal shower/weddings, hmmm, lets see what else? Smart of Recollections to come up with these to put together with all supplies.
Thank you so much for the post. I’m pretty surprise at this moment that Michaels flowers are so similar to the ones I’ve designed. I need to get in touch with them.
Have a great day!
