Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending CHA in Anaheim, California. CHA is the Craft & Hobby Association trade show. Its where companies, buyers, and the press gather to view all the new products for the year. I was thrilled when Plaid invited me to demo in their booth! Which reminds me that I need to share with you the tutorial I had video taped in the booth. :)
For this trip I decided not to take my Nikon along since it would be a long day and carrying a heavy camera around all day was the last thing I wanted to do. However I didn’t realize until I came home that some of my iPhone pictures were blurry so I’m skipping some of those from my favorite booths. But that’s ok because I made several photo collages of plenty of other fun things that caught my eye at CHA this year. Here is a quick CHA 2013 recap along with some of my favorite new craft products coming out this year.
I was able to hang out with the adorable Melissa from No. 2 pencil the majority of the time we were there. Her and I made plans to hang out before our Plaid CHA kickoff dinner on Friday night and it was so fun getting to know her!
Do you see that awesome washi tape wall on the left? swoon! You all know I super puffy heart washi tape and let me just say it was torture seeing so many booths with awesome new washi tape patterns that I couldn’t buy right then and there! I did however purchase the We R Memory Keepers Washi Tape Dispenser from Amazon the second I came home. We R Memory Keepers had an amazing booth with some great new items like an envelope punch board that we were able to demo. They’re also expanding their Albums Made Easy line with new themed kits which will be available in a few months.
As far as the Plaid booth goes I don’t have a great picture to share but they’re coming out with Mod Podge glue molds..basically the best invention ever! I seriously can’t wait to get ahold of one later this year. They’re that awesome! You basically fill a decorative shape mold with hot glue then paint the shapes any color you’d like once it hardens. Genius!
The booths at CHA were amazing. My favorite paper crafting booth displays were the Fiskars and Pebbles booth.
Fiskars had a demo on their new Fiskars Fuse machine. It die cuts, letterpresses, and embosses all in one. I was able to make a mini album with a die cut, I’ll have to remember to share it with you soon because its pretty impressive that the fuse can make it in one easy step.
I am SO excited about the new Project Life kits coming out this year, especially the Kraft edition! If you’re not familiar with Project Life its basically a scrapbook + photo album in one. You add your pictures in the slots then embellish them and add journal cards to remember the events you photographed.
Amy Tangerine, Maggie Holmes, and Elizabeth Kartchner also had adorable papercrafting booths that I loved. I’m looking forward to Amy’s new calendar stamp (the yellow stamp on the top right).
Lifestyle Crafts is releasing their Evolution machine this year. This baby is going to be bigger and better than their current models so keep your eyes out for details on this later. They also have new letterpressing plates, embossing folders, dies, and washi tape sheets.
Craft Attitude had a giant elephant and hot air balloon displayed in their booth. You could spot it all the way across the giant convention room!
How cute is that Smile Daily pallet art sign? DIY project anyone?
Silhouette is coming out with a chipboard that you can cut with their Cameo and portrait machine. As of right now cutting chipboard with your machine is suppose to be a big no no. I’m looking forward to trying this product out along with their double sided adhesive sheets.
Duck tape is now producing mini rolls of duct tape that are almost like washi tape. I believe they have 8 patterns that are being released right now but will have more soon.
The Epiphany Crafts booth was another favorite of mine. They’re small punches that allow you to quickly cut out shapes without having to use a die cutting machine. The pennant punch was my favorite and soon they’ll have the hexagon punch which will be cute for scrapbook layouts. On the top right is a butterfly necklace I made for the little miss..she loved it!
I adored this booth. Its hard to see but they had mounds of inspiration for home decor and paper crafting decor. I’m a big fan of decorating your home with paper products so I was in complete awe at this booth.
Well, that’s it! I shared pictures on instagram as well so if you want to see a wedding dress made out of paper head on over and take a peek. The train is made from paper hearts, trust me its pretty awesome!
A big Thank You to Plaid for inviting me, it was such a great experience for this CHA newbie.
The hubs decided to come along with the kids and they headed to Disneyland down the street while I was at CHA..it was basically a win-win for everyone. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
