How to make Star Wars ornaments. Create DIY Star Wars ornaments with glitter and vinyl for kids or any Star Wars fan.

DIY Star Wars Ornaments

We have a tradition in our family that each child gets to decorate their own mini Christmas tree. We look forward to this Christmas tradition every year! Last year my daughter had a white Disney Frozen tree with sparkly blue ornaments that I helped her make. This year my little guy is really into Star Wars. When I asked what kind of ornaments he wanted for his tree he said Star Wars ornaments. It took me a few days to think of how I could make them without actually painting the shapes on the ornaments. Because let me tell you, my drawing skills are pretty much nonexistent. I then found Star Wars fonts online that I could use with my cutting machine to cut vinyl shapes. So today I’m going to show you a quick tutorial on how to make your own Star Wars ornaments!

Supplies:

the best glittering glue

Glitter

Glitter Vinyl

Vinyl Transfer Tape

plastic ornament bulbs

Cutting machine

Step one: glitter the inside of your ornaments using the best glittering glue and your favorite glitter. I have a post on why I LOVE this glittering glue. Once your ornaments are ready you can begin working on the Star Wars designs.

DIY Glitter OrnamentsStep two: use the TEXT option on your cutting machine design studio. I used shapes from the font SF Distant Galaxy Symbols. When you download the font it has a chart that shows which key to press on your keyboard for each design, logo, or shape. Once you have your shapes in place, adjust the size to fit your ornament bulb. Before you hit SEND to your cutting machine make sure you’ve selected the CUT option to that it cuts the outline of each shape. If you’re familiar with a Silhouette or Cricut you’ll find that option on the top right hand corner. If anyone needs a screenshot please let me know.

They honestly have the best I’ve worked with. I’m also really enjoying working with the Circuit vinyl tape since it’s clear and has a light hold on the vinyl, making it easy to transfer onto your project.

Hi Crystal!

I have a random question – your DIY star wars ornaments (which are amazing by the way!)

But where is the stand from? I am looking for some for a company favour for their christmas party.

Thanks for any info!

Hi Jennifer, Michaels sells ornaments that have an almost flat front. It’s a lot easier to apply vinyl to. Another trick is to place your vinyl down the center first and carefully start smoothing it out towards the sides. Hope that helps! :)
