DIY Watermelon Soap – how to make layered watermelon soap just in time for summer!Hello friends! Summer is right around the corner and I’m ready for kids to be on summer vacation. The end of the school is always a busy time and I think we’re all ready for long summer nights, spending our days in the pool and of course barbecues in the backyard. With summer in mind I’ve been thinking of summer crafts to make with the kids. While today’s post isn’t necessarily geared towards kids, I thought it was perfect for summer. This watermelon soap was inspired by the mold I used for my Birthday Cake Bath Bomb. It’s a layered soap made with goat’s milk and glycerin soap made to look like a watermelon. Perfect for gifts and party favors!

Goats milk soap base – I use this for all of my soap tutorials
Glycerin soap base
Red gel coloring
Green soap pigment
Fragrance oil
Soap mold
Step one: melt 10 ounces of glycerin soap in a small pyrex glass cup; stir every 30 seconds until melted. Stir in green pigment until well combined. A little goes a long way, you need maybe ½ teaspoon of pigment. Pour soap into mold; let set before moving on to the next layer. The green and white layers should be relatively thin; you only need a little for each mold cavity.
Step two: melt 1 cup of goats milk soap base. Pour on top of the green soap layer; let soap set.
Step three: melt 1-pound glycerin soap base. Stir in fragrance oil and 2-3 drops of red gel coloring until well combined. Note: you can add fragrance oil in each layer or only in the biggest soap layer, whatever you prefer. Optional: add poppy seeds to make the soap look like small watermelon seeds. Fill the soap to the top of each cavity and let set for a couple hours before removing.
