Whenever we take long road trips I try to keep myself busy in the car. I find it impossible to sit in the car for 5-6 hours without doing something productive. Magazines and books usually do the trick but sometimes I just need to craft. Now crafting in the car isn’t always easy, but I did keep myself busy on this last trip making duct tape poinsettia flowers. I’m really happy with the way they turned out and quite impressed that I was able to make several of them in the car. Duct Tape Poinsettias Flower I recently received a box full of Duck® Brand duct tape with fun holiday themed patterns and was challenged to create something with them. As soon as I saw the red I knew I wanted to make Duct Tape Poinsettias to decorate my tree with. duct tape crafts Easy DIY Duct Tape Poinsettia Flower Tutorial Supplies: Red Duck Tape® Scissors Floral Wire Wire Cutters Floral Tape Easy DIY Duct Tape Poinsettia Flower Tutorial

How to make Duck Tape Flowers

I began by covering a piece of floral wire with the Duck Tape®. I found its easier to work one petal at a time, but if you’re patient you could do long pieces of tape and add 3-4 stems at a time. The tricky part is folding over the tape evenly without any creases, but if you can it will make this project a lot quicker. Easy DIY Duct Tape Poinsettia Flower Tutorial Then I free handed cut the flower petal. It doesn’t have to be perfect because the flower will be a little forgiving once its put together. Easy DIY Duct Tape Poinsettia Flower Tutorial Once all of the flower petals were ready I gathered them together and twisted one of the stems around to make one solid stem. I don’t have this pictured but I later went back and wrapped floral tape around the stem to give them a finished look. The tape has also made it easy for me to wrap the flower stem around things easily. Easy DIY Duct Tape Poinsettia Flower Tutorial

The great thing about the duct tape poinsettias is that you can make them in various sizes. Its hard to tell in pictures but the flower below is half the size of the flower above. I made a few for my tree and plan to use them as gift toppers as well this Christmas. Fore more creative holiday ideas be sure to like Duck® brand on facebook!
