Tin can vases – upcycle tin cans by turning them into painted vases with floral ribbon.
This post is brought to you by DecoArt.
I remember reading arts & crafts books that my sister and I would check out from the library. We would look through the pages to find projects to make during our time away from school. Tin cans were always on hand so we often used them to craft with. I remember making pencil vases, stilts, and even a “phone” that we used string to connect from our doors. To this day I still enjoy upcycling tins cans for craft projects. Remember the tin cans I painted to hold my office supplies? I was inspired by the floral tape to create a tin can vase with floral ribbon. This easy tin can upcycle idea is great for decorating a brunch tablescape or using around the home.
Supplies:
Tin cans
Chalky finish paint in Everlasting & New Life
Brush
Ribbon
Hot glue
Step one: apply 1-2 coats of paint. You can give your vase a distressed look by lightly sanding off pieces of paint.Step two: use a hot glue gun to add various ribbons to your tin can. I’m using a floral ribbon with a white lace trim and pink stain ribbon. All of my supplies came from Michaels. This beautiful floral ribbon is the same one I used on my spring wreath.
I temporarily filled my vase with flowers from Michaels but I plan to fill them with daisies for our Mother’s Day brunch.
I’m loving these tin cans!! They are so pretty and would look great in my office!! Thanks for the awesome idea :)
