Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Pie dough:
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • Pie Filling:
  • 5 granny smith apples peeled, cored and sliced
  • 4 MacIntosh apples peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • Streusel Topping:
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  • In a large bowl combine flout and salt. Cut in butter into flour.
  • Add water a tablespoon at a time until dough can be formed in a ball.
  • Wrap in plastic and chill overnight. Roll dough to fit 9 inch pie dish.
  • In a large bowl combine apples and lemon juice.
  • In a small bowl combine sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Toss with apples until fully coated.
  • Add apple mixture into prepared pie crust.
  • In a medium bowl combine flour, sugars, and unsalted butter. Sprinkle over apples.
  • Bake at 375 for 45-50 minutes.
