Friday is family movie night around here. The one night where everyone pulls out every blanket we own and we build a fort that spans across the living room, then throw an equal amount of pillows down to lay on. Every week I see the same excitement on the kids faces as we prepare our fort and snuggle up with a bowl of popcorn. Being the Disney movie lovers that we are we were excited last week to watch Disney Planes for our movie night.
If you’ve been a reader for awhile you know that I enjoy putting together fun movie themed food and crafts for the kids. We kept things simple this time around but the little guy definitely enjoyed the Disney Planes activities.
I whipped up an airplane themed popcorn box with a little wash tape, paper rosette, and die-cut airplane. These little popcorn boxes are the kids favorite! I have to agree that they’re a lot more fun than sharing a big bowl of popcorn.
The kids love an excuse to have finger foods for dinner so I indulged them in airplane shaped turkey sandwiches, carrots, and peanuts. The kids were kind of confused about the peanuts until I told them that they’re often served on on airplanes. They didn’t remember that from our trip to Chicago last year but they liked the idea of having peanuts with their meal. :)
We also made clothespin airplanes before the movie. I let them paint the sticks and clothespin then I glued them together.
Another crafty idea is to use a dollar store tray and duct tape to make personalized runway tracks. I mentioned this before but I made this for our car rides and it’s been a lifesaver! The little guy plays with this track nonstop on long car rides.
The little guy who is obsessed with airplanes loved the movie! My daughter understood the message a little more than the little guy. If you haven’t watched it, it’s a great story that teachers children to have courage to try things despite doubts you or others may have.
Love this! I am passing this on to my good friend…she has a little grandson who is currently obsessed with planes :)
Such a fun idea for a themed movie night. I love the clothespin airplanes! #client
Okay, we need to get the movie now that it’s out – I know my little boy would like it! I love all your parties – they’re so cute but simple enough to pull off in a weekend! Thanks for sharing!
Lovely!
