Let’s talk about Washi tape. Do you use it? Are you one of those people that ran to Target the second you heard it was available there? I’ll admit, I am one of those people! I’ve been eying it online since last Fall but couldn’t think of anything to do with it. Now I have all sorts of washi tape crafts planned. I’ll start off by sharing with you my new washi tape coasters. They were inspired by this pinterest find and this adorable washi tape bunny from My Sister’s Suitcase.
Like I said, I ran to Target a few weeks ago. Ok, I didn’t run but I strapped the kids into their car seats as fast as I could and headed to Target hoping there would be some washi tape left. We raced down to the office supply aisle only to find out my Target didn’t have it in stock yet. *tear*. There I was feeling silly that I drove all the way to Target during what should have been nap time for a craft product! I considered driving to Super Target in the next town over but decided I would chalk that quest up as a fail and check back in a few days. Luckily I go to Target more often than I care to admit and found it at my next visit. I even found some at Michael’s yesterday! I think it’s safe to say I have a slight addiction to washi tape right now.

In case you’re wondering, this is what you’re looking for at Michael’s. I found mine near the registers.
These were so incredibly easy to make. They took me maybe 20 minutes. I made them out of the same tiles I used in the last diy coaster tutorial I shared. They’re very inexpensive (16 cents a piece at Lowes) and make a great gift. Think Mother’s Day gift idea!
To make them I started on the top left corner so that my stripes would be diagonal. I wrapped the tape a little over the bottom then repeated until the entire tile was finished. I didn’t worry about a pattern and made them all a little different. I then finished them with a coat of Mod Podge. If you’re worryed about them sticking together you can use a varnish instead. I’ve never had a problem with the Mod Podge though. Once that dried I glued felt onto the bottom of each coaster.

I love how colorful they are. They’re my favorite coasters yet!

What’s are some of your favorite washi tape crafts?

These are so awesome….I have seen many washi tape craft ideas and keep telling myself I want to see what all the hype is all about but I don’t always have time so when I do, I find I have a better chance to make an item if I can run out and grab what I need…now that I know Target carries it, I am going to have to jump in and give it a whirl. :)

Thank you for sharing!

I was just at Michael’s yesterday looking for Washi tape and am going to Joann’s this afternoon searching. I LOVE what you did with these coasters! I’m buying some for my pendants that I make – to try something new….but I’m also going to have to add these to my list. I LOVE them! Found you over at Fingerprints on the Fridge! I’d love for you to come link this up at my Tuesday Time Out Party – open all week!
