DIY Chalkboard Mason jar teacher gift
Hey crafty friends! I can’t believe it’s already the end of July. Things have been so busy this summer that I feel like I’ve barely been around. As the kids get ready to head back to school in a couple weeks I’m planning my schedule with fun projects to make. My favorite crafting season is coming up and I can’t wait! Shhh…can you keep a secret? I purchased my first set of faux pumpkins today at Michaels. They were on sale and I just couldn’t resist. Now don’t worry I won’t start posting pumpkin projects just yet, at least not until I share a few back to school ideas with you. Speaking of back to school, today I’m sharing a DIY chalkboard mason jar teacher gift.

I know chalkboard was a big trend several years ago but I just can’t let it go. I really enjoy taking random finds and applying a coat of chalkboard paint to display around the house. Painting mason jars isn’t a new idea by any means but it’s something I’ve wanted to try for years. I’m so glad I gave this project a try! I love the way the mason jars turned out and the Americana chalkboard paint for glass is the best glass paint I’ve tried.
Supplies:
Americana Chalkboard Paint for glass
Mason jar
Chalkboard ribbon
Chalk
Step one: apply 1-2 coats of chalkboard paint, allowing each coat to dry in between. My jars only needed one coat but you can always go over with a second coat if needed.
Step two: once the paint has dried for at least 24 hours prime or “season” the chalkboard by rubbing chalk all over the painted surface. Wipe off with a dry towel and you’re done!
I love this chalkboard alphabet ribbon I found at Michaels. I plan to wrap all of our teacher gifts with it this year.

Doggone it was just at Michaels yesterday, so much good stuff on sale, hard to decide how to spend my “disposable income”, lol. Wish I’d seen that ribbon, so cute. When I first saw it thought you had drawn letters on yourself.
(I was under bit of pressure with cranky old hubs out in car waiting.)
Love those jars, they look really nice, like paint goes on very smooth. I always seem to mess up trying to season anything with chalk board paint on it. I Love that little carrier with chalk board on front, very handy. Your school teacher gift ideas are all great as always. Enjoy your blog and post even if it is about something I won’t do, no little ones to make things for anymore. Have great weekend
So simple but looks so cute.
You have the cutest back to school ideas!
This is adorable! Any teacher would love to have this jar on her desk!
