Hi friends! Last week I shared a DIY Photo Plaque tutorial and mentioned Kristen’s Decorating With Pictures series on her blog. Be sure to stop by for some great photo decorating ideas!
Today I’m sharing a photo ledge project I worked on recently. As I mentioned last week I don’t have a lot of recent pictures of the kids using our camera. Most of my pictures these days come from my iPhone. Because let’s be honest, carrying a heavy DSLR isn’t easy when you’re out and about with kids. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 plus and am very pleased with the camera quality. I thought my 5s took decent pictures but the 6 has made a great alternative to my DSLR. Keeping in mind that I didn’t have recent pictures with my Nikon I went through my iPhone pictures and selected my favorites to print off.
I picked up these white photo ledges at Walmart for around $13 a piece. I know, I know you could probably make these for a few bucks but I was feeling a little lazy. ;) Plus, they were pretty easy to install and come with all the necessary hardware. I have a wide living room wall with a lot of empty space and thought this would be a great way to decorate with pictures. I actually like the ledges to much I think I’m going to add more to fill in more of that empty space.
To fill in gaps between the pictures I added two framed quotes. If I remember correctly both quote frames are from Hobby Lobby, from last year. I’ve had this “Oh, let’s be adventurers darling!” frame in my craft space but I kind of like the color mixed in with the white and mint frames.
The white frames and distressed mint frame are from Michaels. I tried to keep an simple neutral palette to match the rest of my decor. I’m not big on bright colors in our home so this was the perfect mix.
