This DIY cookie packaging container tutorial
Next week our kitchen will turn into a cookie factory with sprinkles and flour covering every surface. We used to joke about the kids getting fired from the “sprinkles factory” when my little guy accidentally poured an entire container of sprinkles onto a cookie. Poor guy had no idea the lid was loose. As you can imagine tiny sprinkles were scattered all over the table and floor that day. He must have been 18 months at the time and in his little eyes he didn’t see the big deal about his cookie being 99% covered in sprinkles. It’s definitely one of our favorite memories in the kitchen. We’re all looking forward to creating new memories next week while we bake our favorite cookie recipes to give our friends and family. Every year I try to think of creative ways to wrap food gifts. Last year we made small berry baskets with cellophane wrapped around. This year I’ve started working on cookie containers that I’ve painted and added snow-tex for a faux snow covered look.

DIY Cookie Packaging Container
Supplies:
Snow-Tex
Multi-Surface Paint – Coastal Waters
Packaging container (from Michaels)
Brush
Glitter vinyl or stickers
Step one: paint 1-2 coats of Americana multi-surface paint on your unfinished container.
Step two: use a flat brush to apply Snow-Tex around the container. This stuff is really easy to spread so a little goes a long way. I made my cookie container look like it was snow-capped with the “snow” coming down a little lower on the sides. Allow the snow-tex to dry for a few hours or overnight before handling.
Step three: add snowflake stickers or vinyl. I’m using this pretty white glitter vinyl from Expression Vinyl that I cut with my cutting machine. I also added a snowflake trim around the bottom.
This cookie packaging idea makes a great neighbor gift or to bring into the office for co-workers to enjoy. Simply wrap the cookies in parchment paper or tissue and seal the container to keep the cookies fresh.
