Have you ever wanted something for a long, loooonnnggg time then once you got it didn’t use it for weeks? You know how long I’ve wanted a Silhouette right? Like a year and a half long. About a month ago this big brown box arrived at my door step. I squealed in delight because hidden inside the big brown box was the one material item, the one craft tool I have ever wanted the most. I’m not a very materialistic person, I don’t spend much on clothes (hello $8 Target t-shirts!), shoes, and accessories. So buying a Silhouette was a big deal for me. My husband has wanted to get it for me for my birthday, our anniversary, and Christmas. But I wouldn’t let him. I kept telling him that I had too much guilt since I already had a Cricut. Well my Cricut has been acting funny so I finally caved and ordered a Cameo. I was thrilled when it came, as happy as a kid in a candy store kind of happy. Then life got busy and for weeks it’s been sitting on my counter waiting to be used. I’ve browsed the online store plenty of times and have downloaded the free shape of the week every Monday, but not until today did I actually use my Silhouette. This is what I made:

And the finally verdict? I love love love my Cameo!! Thank you everyone who suggested it, you’re right it’s amazing! I have SO many ideas to use it for. I hope many of you have a Silhouette as well because I’d like to share some fun tutorials with you soon.

On another note I have something rather embarrassing to show. I recently said that I’m working on a mini living room makeover. Well here are the before pictures. This is what my living room looks like 90% of the time. The only time it’s decorated is during a holiday, then once the holiday is over it’s back to being plain Jane.

Look at that small picture on the large wall, I’m laughing just looking at it. It’s not even a good picture!
The table and mirror is where I had a few St. Patrick’s Day decor displayed.

Not very attractive is it? Want to know the worst part? We bought our house 2 years ago and it’s been like this since. I’m just so indecisive I can’t pick a paint color out or decide if we even want to paint. I’m horrible at making decisions. It’s drives my husband crazy how indecisive I am. This week I set out to find a few accessories and new wall decor to freshen up our home for Spring. Come back tomorrow for the reveal!

Do you like the Silhouette better than your Cricut?

Hi April,
Yes I like the flexibility of being able to find any design I want. I have 4 Cricut Cartridges and always felt limited with my shape options. I like that the Silhouette store has thousands of shapes for $1 each instead of buying a $40-60 cartridge only to use a few shapes from it. Do you have a Cricut?

Crystal,
I don’t have either. I really want one though. I think I am going to go with a Silhouette. Thanks for replying back to me.

Hey! Such a funny post because I was the same way about my Silhouette! When it went on sale on Black Friday and I got $50 off, I knew it was the time to purchase it. The really sad thing is, I’ve had it since then and still haven’t even removed it from the box. It’s much bigger then I expected and I’m waiting to move to use it! I’m still pretty excited though. I’ve heard great things about this thing!!

I have both the Cricut and the Cameo and still afraid to use them. Maybe as you learn you can post how you used it. I do think the Cameo has more possibilities and cheaper than buying Cricut cartriages and you get what you want. I want to learn how to copy clip art into my Cameo. Thanks for your post and I will enjoy how you change your room.
