DIY Book Gift Basket – create a customized book with your child’s name and fill a basket with their favorite story time essentials.
Every year I try to think of meaningful gift ideas that my children will enjoy. I tend to think back on what they have really enjoyed that year or something special to them at the moment. My youngest loves reading together. Every weekend he looks forward to building forts to read in. We make these elaborate forts with every blanket and sheet we can find then hang fairy lights inside. It’s become sort of a Saturday morning ritual. It’s something we have been doing for years and I hope that he will enjoy this family activity for many more years to come. With that in mind, I wanted to create the perfect reading gift basket for him. Our friends over at Radio Flyer recently asked if we would like to try out a customized book for my son and I thought it would make a wonderful gift. I’m also really excited to share a discount code so my readers can create their own Radio Flyer customized book.
This book gift basket idea is great for birthdays, Christmas and even for a child starting school.

Our Radio Flyer wagon has been used by all 3 of my children and hold countless memories at the park, around the neighborhood, at the pumpkin patch and more. I’m so excited for my little guy to open his book and see himself on the pages. I know seeing his name throughout the book will be a big hit!
Zach always has a stack of books next to his bed. He can’t seem to fall asleep without looking through a book, even after story time. I thought having a little basket to keep books in would be great for organization purposes. This way he can keep his favorites close by or switch them out every week. I’ve had this chalkboard crate in a closet so I decided to add wooden letters to the front using double sided tape (the heavy-duty kind from the scrapbooking aisle). I also added a new bear to add to his collection.
A small throw blanket to cuddle with, or to add to our fort building adventures.
He has been asking for a flashlight for quite some time now. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be thrilled to find this in his gift basket. Optional: another great item to add is a timer bookmark. This comes in handy as they get older and have assigned reading for school. Fore more gift ideas and updates on their latest products, be sure to check out Radio Flyer on Facebook.
