My baby girl is turning two next week. Where has the time gone? I feel like we just celebrated her 1st birthday and now here we are getting things ready for her 2nd birthday party.

So hubby likes to create fun cakes for the kids and since Madi’s party theme is Hello Kitty he thought he’d make her a cake. He intended to bake a large sheet cake then cut out the shape and then I told him I had already picked up a Hello Kitty pan from Michael’s. He said that it’s cheating that way, but hey if I can simplify things I’m all for it. This is what we came up with…

We used a gum drop for the nose, licorice for the whiskers, and black frosting for the eyes.
We had a lot of fun decorating it. Madi kept sticking her finger in the frosting and saying “mmm it’s really good” haha
Last year her theme was Abby Cadabby and hubby made this cake all by himself (he used two cupcakes and a small round cake for this one).
I’m really excited for her birthday. I’ve been busy planning her party and searching for everything pink, white, and Hello Kitty. We’re doing a pink and white themed candy bar/dessert table and I can’t wait to show you guys.
Have a great weekend, thanks for stopping by!
Check out the awesome parties I’m linking up to here.

So cute! I have a little one turning 2 in a few weeks myself..Minnie Mouse party for us (minniemousebirthday.blogspot.com). The Hello Kitty is so adorable though!

I'd love for you to link your creation to our first Blog Party! It's a party specifically for kids and teens things, so alot of your ideas would be perfect!

Your hubby is one terrific cake decorater. I love these two cakes. Birthday parties for little ones the age of your Madie are the most fun. Happy birthday Madie.

Aww, SO CUTE! I also love the Abbey cake from last year. My little Emma is turning a year old next month, and while she doesn't yet have a real attachment to anyone character, I have a feeling that her fascination with Sesame Street will soon turn into a love for one of the girly characters like Abbey. :) I can't wait to see pictures of your awesome dessert table! We're doing a cupcake theme for Emma's first birthday. It's so exciting!

Thanks for sharing with So Sweet Sundays! :)

Love your cute cakes!!!

Just wanted to share another way to get the characters on a regular cake. Find a clipart pic that you like and blow it up to the size you need. Cover with a piece of wax paper and trace the outline with cake decorating gel. Then VERY CAREFULLY flip the wax paper over and place on the iced cake.

You may have to gently trace the outline with your finger to get it to transfer all the way.

Lift the wax paper off and *presto* you have the character (or logo, or mascot) outline on your cake! Decorate as needed.
