Easy 4-ingredient Oreo peppermint bark and food gift wrapping ideas for the holidays.

How to make peppermint bark
Hi friends! Are you ready for Thanksgiving and maybe a little Christmas shopping on Friday? I’m excited to spend the week with family and of course knock out some Christmas shopping Friday morning. I may even put Michael Buble on and start wrapping gifts on Sunday. Speaking of gift wrapping, have you seen the adorable gift wrap at Michaels?
As a #MichalesMaker blogger I’m there quite often, always finding inspiration for new project ideas. So when I spotted the Recollections gift wrapping line I knew I had to use some of it for Christmas gifts. They have wrapping paper rolls, bakers twine, chalkboard stickers, gift tags, clothespins, gift boxes…you name it! My absolute favorite are the red french fry boxes and strawberry baskets! I’ll have a few more gift wrapping ideas to share with you next week but today I want to share a couple quick ideas for wrapping food gifts. There’s also an easy Oreo peppermint bark recipe at the bottom.
This year, I really into buffalo plaid! I’ve picked up a scarf, shirt, slippers and now my obsession is transcending into gift wrap. Check out these adorable deer gift tags and plaid washi tape!
Using the french fry boxes I wrapped the plaid washi tape around and used the deer sticker in the center. I then added a dimensional Merry Christmas sticker underneath. You can find the clear plastic bags in the baking aisle and tie with ribbon.
The strawberry baskets were a little harder to wrap the tape around because of the shape, but you can smooth out wrinkles as much as possible. Here I added chalkboard sticker tags and a kraft paper bow.
OREO Peppermint Bark
I couldn’t show you a few gift wrapping ideas without a recipe now could I? One of our favorite gifts to give during the holidays is peppermint bark. It’s really easy to make and perfect for neighbor gifts or when someone drops by unexpectedly with a gift, and it’s also great for holiday parties. This oreo peppermint bark recipe is made with only 4 ingredients – good quality semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, candy canes, and Oreos. You can enhance the peppermint flavor by adding a 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract in the melted semi-sweet chocolate or by using Peppermint Oreos.
Oreo Peppermint Bark
Ingredients
- 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
- 12 ounces white chocolate
- 8 Oreos chopped
- 6 candy canes crushed
Instructions
- Over a double boiler melt semi-sweet chocolate. Pour over a parchment paper covered baking sheet. Spread with spatula into an even layer. Chill for 15 minutes.
- Melt white chocolate in a separate bowl and spread on top of cold semi-sweet chocolate. Immediately sprinkle crushed candy canes and chopped Oreos over chocolate. Refrigerate for 15 minutes; cut into squares.

mmm, love this idea!
Mmmmmmm, looks luscious, all that goodness. Don’t know that I’ve ever had peppermint bark let alone oreo peppermint bark.
I was in Michaels yesterday but didn’t see any of that awesome wrapping stuff. Doggone it this year my brain is off, didn’t get any plaid ribbon or anything else plaid. It’s hard to find plaid papers, let alone Christmas plaid papers. I did get more of the heavier silver and gold cardstock papers yesterday, so pretty, was on sale $10 for 10.
I’m going to look for plaid papers and ribbons especially tomorrow if we go to town for black Friday. Love looks of all that from Michaels. Will have to ask about their special collections. Love those French fry boxes for gift giving. I have a pattern for French fry box wonder if I could find it to make some. Want that plaid washi tape also. I can see how it must have been hard to wrap the strawberry basket. Hmmm, want some of those also. You have inspired me so much.
Hope you’re having a wonderful Thanksgiving day.
Love this idea! Such a cute and creative way to wrap goodies, and what a great twist on peppermint bark by adding oreos. I was wondering, though, did you get the fry boxes at Michaels? I called them this morning and they said they don’t sell any. I’m wondering if there’s somewhere else I can find them? A quick search on the web is turning up fairly empty for the red boxes (they have white and striped, but red is so much nicer for Christmas).
Wow, that bark looks delicious! My little one would love to help make, and eat, these! I love the presentation as well!
This bark is absolutely beautiful and is such a great gift idea!! Plus it looks like it’ll be pretty addicting for me too! :) Can’t wait to try it!!
I just used your recipe and it looks amazing! I do have a question, how long do you wait to gift wrap the bark? After it comes out of the fridge, it’s going to sweat. This is my first time making bark. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!
