During the week our morning routines can be a little hectic. At the beginning of every school year I have this big plan to organize our schedules and make promises that this will be the year we’re not rushing out the door. Unfortunately we have yet to master that schedule and on most days are left trying to find shoes and homework . On days like this, OK so on most days, I’m not able to make a big breakfast for everyone. This is when I’m happy my oldest prefers cereal over any breakfast food everyday. What we need in our busy mornings is a quick, simple, and wholesome breakfast to kick off our day. Now this isn’t to say we don’t love cereal on our calm, relaxed weekends. In fact every once in awhile we have a little fun creating new treats out of cereal. One of our favorites are Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Treats.

I recently received 5 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal, many already favorites in our household, but a couple that I’ve never tried. The Kellogg’s cereal I’m most impressed with is All-Bran. Right on the front of the box it says that there’s 10 grams of fiber in each serving. That’s very impressive for a cereal and if that wasn’t enough there’s also 4 grams of protein to help you feel full longer. It’s considered one of their heart healthy selections and I can definitely see why. This has quickly become one of my favorites along with my long time favorite, Raisin Bran. What I like about Raisin Bran is all the raisins you get in each bite, plus each serving has 7 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein. The kids have always liked Rice Krispies and my son recently tried the gluten free version. I have yet to try it but he really enjoyed it and I’m happy to know it’s made with whole grain brown rice.

What we like about Kellogg’s cereals is that there are very few ingredients involved, giving our family that wholesome breakfast we need in the morning. For instance did you know that Rice Krispies cereal has only 4 ingredients in it? It’s also fortified some seed-to-spoon with essential vitamins and minerals.

This past weekend we made Rice Krispies treats with a little twist. We added peanut butter M&M’s then added a light spread of melted peanut chips on top. These are definitely a must try, they’re delicious!

What are some of your favorite cereals?
