The Little Mermaid Party Ideas – easy crafts, recipes, and party decor for an under the sea party!
If we’re friends on instagram you know that we LOVE all things Disney and that I enjoy creating Disney themed parties for the kids. When it was only my son and daughter we used to have special themed nights that my son would decide on. I would create a fun tablescape and dinner to match the theme. After the little guy was born we became so busy that we stopped our themed family nights. It’s something that I miss and want to start up again. Creating The Little Mermaid party for my daughter made me realize how much fun it was and that we should make it a regular occurrence. My plan is to have the kids take turns picking a theme once a month and I’ll create a simple tablescape with food that fits the theme. I’ll definitely share our themed family night details with you!
This party I’m sharing today is filled with easy Little Mermaid crafts and food ideas. The tablescape was my favorite! I used $1 jars from Michaels filled with aqua rocks and added Little Mermaid toys inside. The turquoise flowers are beautiful! I love the glitter and different shades of turquoise. To keep things simple I used colorful paper plates and silverware. This is an easy way to keep things cost effective and makes for a quick clean up.
Little Mermaid Party Food
We often make “beach cupcakes” during the summer and during our ocean theme week a few years. To make them I added crushed graham cracks on one side and chocolate seashells on the other. The kids love them and they’re perfect for an “Under the Sea” party!
We also made oyster cookies with pearls inside. Also known as the most common little mermaid party food. :) They’re just too fun! To make them I used two Pepperidge Farms lemon cookies, frosting, and pearl sixlets. I’m definitely making these again on Tuesday night to celebrate the release of The Little Mermaid!
Little Mermaid Party Ideas
I decorated our entry way/living room with this easy streamer backdrop, balloons, and netting from the craft store. Balloons and streamers are classic party items, they’re also as inexpensive as it gets. You can’t beat dollar decor!  At the end of the party we surprised them with exciting news…we’re going to Disneyland in a few weeks! The best part about the surprise is that we have tickets to Mickey’s Halloween party, which we’ve never been to. Let the Disneyland countdown begin!
Love this idea! I loved The Little Mermaid as a young girl and am so excited to share it with my own daughter! Your ideas for this party are adorable, and I really like the idea of a themed family night. So fun!
Love the party!! Little Mermaid is my 19 yr olds favorite movie. We can’t wait for its release. We had it on VHS, but it gone worn out severely so can’t wait to get it again. Great party!! Love the glass bowls with the figures in!!
This is gorgeous! I love those centerpieces!
So pretty & fun!
How cute! I love the cookies and especially how simple they are to make. Do the sixlets come in packages that only contain that color? I’ve never seen them in pearl before. I’m sure you’ll have a great time at Disney.
The streamer backdrop has so much impact even though it is simple. Love it! Everything looks great! :)
Love it all! I bet the kids really felt like they were under the sea!
What a precious partty! The little fish bowls in the centerpiece are adorable.

Hi Dawn, I believe they were from the craft store Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Sorry I’m not much help. I can’t quite remember which exact store I purchased them from in 2013 but those are the stores in my city so I’m sure it’s from one of those. I hope that helps! :)
