Hey friends, I have a quick project to share with you today…a Barbie inspired bag for little girls! This Barbie bag is great for taking to the beach or a slumber party. Using Silhouette heat transfer vinyl and a drawstring bag you can make this project in under 20 minutes!

I recently found this pink drawstring bag at Michael’s for $5. It was a little too plain so I decided to pretty it up a bit with a Barbie applique using Black Silhouette Heat Transfer material.
DIY Barbie Bag
I began by finding a shape in the Silhouette store that looked similar to the Barbie silhouette. You could flip the image of this shape to have a closer resemblance to the Barbie silhouette but I think it’s cute either way. Note: you normally need to flip the image in the software but I didn’t need to for this particular design. Once I adjusted the shape to the size I needed I fed the heat transfer material into the machine without a cutting mat and cut the shape out. The heat transfer material’s shiny side needs to face down.
Once the shape was cut I placed a cloth over the applique (at this point the shiny side needs to face up) and ironed for about 45 seconds. I then removed the top layer, the “shiny side.” To add a little detail to the Barbie silhouette I added hot fix stones as a ponytail holder. This was the first time I’ve used this tool and now I want to bling out everything in sight!

That’s super cute … my girls would just love it! The blinged-out ponytail really adds a fun touch.
