Painted confetti star mason jar lanterns made with Sharpie Paint markers.
Every summer we have an annual backyard campout with the kids. This is one of our favorite summertime traditions. It began when my oldest was 6 and wanted to go camping as summer was coming to an end. Since I was 8 months pregnant on bed rest with Madilynn camping wasn’t an option. He was so bummed that we could’t go and I of course felt an array of emotions about how his life as a single child was going to change in a few short weeks. After talking to my husband we decided to have a day filled with all of Jay’s favorite activities and a camp out in the backyard. The boys spent the afternoon playing outdoor games, setting up a tent, and we ended the night by making s’mores on the fire pit before they camped out in the tent. Jay thought it was the best day ever! Since then we’ve made it a tradition to camp out in the backyard. Every year we add new activities, crafts, and invite cousins over. This year we plan to make star mason jar lanterns to carry around while they participate in a nighttime scavenger hunt. I can’t wait to see them run around the yard with their lanterns!
Please note the kids will NOT have a candle inside their jars. All of our flameless tea lights were out when I photographed this project so I had to improvise. :)
