Create a clothespin memo board with grey burlap, DecoArt paint, and a wood plaque for under $5.

Clothespin Memo Board

With the new school year right around the corner I’ve been busy cleaning school supply drawers out and trying to get organized. I feel like it’s January again, when you get that feeling of wanting to be organized and reduce the clutter. I don’t know if it’s because my daughter is starting preschool and the thought of having two kids in two different schools makes me crave organization or just really needing some good organization around here these days. Whatever the reason it has me dreaming of a command station for all the school notes and papers that will need to be signed, along with a calendar to track our schedules. Once the kitchen is painted over the next few weeks I plan to start working on the command station that will fit our needs.

I wanted to make a memo board for the kids to hang paper that need to be signed or for fun when they have something they’d like to display. I haven’t quite figured out the kitchen decor once the kitchen is ready so I knew I wanted to keep the memo board neutral with grey and white. I used this awesome grey burlap along with a warm white Americana DecoArt paint.

DIY Memo Board

To make the clothespin memo board I painted a wood plaque from Michaels with DecoArt warm white acrylic paint.

After the paint dried I covered the edges with painters tape and cut my grey burlap to size.

I coated the wood with spray adhesive and placed the burlap onto the wood. Once the adhesive dried and the  burlap was glued on well I hot glued a white painted clothespin to the board.

For now I displayed Project Life cards mainly because they’re pretty, but will eventually use it for notes and permission slips. The best part about this memo board is that it cost under $5 to make and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out!

This would be really cute in a little girl’s room. Fun idea! I love burlap. I just started a craft blog, too.

I love how the grey burlap gives a sort of raw, rustic feel without being TOO rustic. I could definitely see something cool like this in my home. Great project!
