A homemade coconut oatmeal scrub recipe that will exfoliate and leave your skin feeling silky smooth.

Homemade Coconut Oatmeal Scrub Recipe

It’s no secret that I love making my own sugar scrubs. They’re incredibly easy to make and cost a fraction of what you can buy them for at a salon. There are endless scrub recipes that you can customize to your favorite scents and skin type.

While eating my daily oatmeal one morning it reminded me of an oatmeal scrub my sister and I once tried as teens. On the weekends we would stay up late watching movies or reading teen magazines while trying face masks and scrubs, complete with cucumber slices on our eyes. We tried everything from an avocado mask to an oatmeal scrub. The texture of the oatmeal scrub was coarse but it left your skin soft and smooth afterwards.

I mainly use this recipe as a hand scrub in the kitchen sink. The coconut oil will thicken the ground oatmeal, so start with the lowest amount of oatmeal and oil then increase gradually to find the perfect consistency. To use the scrub apply a spoonful of oatmeal scrub on your skin and gently exfoliate in a circular motion (if you decide to use the scrub on your face avoid the eye area).

The coconut oil aids the oatmeal in exfoliating your skin while leaving it silky smooth. The vanilla and coconut oil will provide a subtle scent to the scrub but you may add in a few drops of your favorite essential oil as well. I started using coconut oil earlier this year and can’t get enough of it! It’s not only great for cooking with, but works nicely in homemade scrub recipes.
