DIY Lavender Soap Tutorial – how to make easy melt and pour soap with lavender essential oil.
DIY Lavender Soap
Last week I shared how to make honey brown sugar scrub and today I’m back with a soap tutorial. This lavender soap tutorial is so easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Once you try soap making you’ll love making soap to give to friends and family.
I haven’t made soap in years, not since I made the cupid soap bars to give as Christmas gifts, but I’ve had this Goat’s soap bar for months and knew it was time to put it to use. I used the leftover lavender from my lavender mason jar tutorial.

How to make Lavender Soap
Supplies:
soap colorant (optional)
To make three lavender soap bars you will need about 13 goat’s milk soap cubes (about 1 pound).
1. Cut soap into cubes and place in a double boiler or microwave in 30 second intervals (I used a large pyrex measuring cup over a double boiler).
2. Melt soap over low-medium heat.
3. Once soap cubes turn liquid add a few drops of lavender extract, colorant, and lavender; stir well. The lavender will naturally float to the top as you can see in the picture above.
4. Pour into soap molds and allow to harden for at least one hour. Press mold to release soap.
And there you have it..your own lavender soap bars!
I made one without purple colorant and two with the colorant. There are also plenty of ways to naturally color your soap if you prefer to not use dyes. I do suggest using essential oils over fragrance oils though, both can be found at your local craft store.

Tonia@thegunnysack » Thanks Tonia! I have this big bundle I picked up at my grocery store so I’ve been thinking of ways to use it. It smells wonderful in my house. I hope you have a great weekend, sweet friend! :)
Those turned out so pretty! I can only imagine how great they smell :) Thanks for sharing!
I bet this soap smells great. I love the smell of lavender. (Stopping by from TT&J Wrap Party.)
Just saw these on craftgawker, thought they were phone cases at first because of the shape! I made soap last year, its great, thanks for sharing the recipe!!
What a lovely project – I have thought about doing this from time to time. I have an allergic reaction to vitamin e, and have to be super careful about bath and beauty projects. This would also be a great way to use my dry lavender. Thanks for the tutorial and hope you can stop by the enchanted oven to say hi!

I have always wanted to make my own soap but haven’t tried it yet. This looks absolutely wonderful, I can’t wait to try!
I love using my lavender in soaps. We make our soap from scratch and grind up the buds to act as scrubbies and then put some whole ones on top. Makes great soap. Since we want to keep the soap natural, we never add any artificial color.
Wonderful, I have lavender, I love goat’s milk soap & this looks lovely! Thank you for this way to combine all of these things into one simple tutorial.

Your soap is beautiful! I use to make cold processed soap and your beautiful pictures have me wanting to run out and buy some soap making supplies!
I just bought some lavender essential oil. I’ll have to try this!
These are beautiful! I’ve never seen goats milk soap cubes. Do you get them at the craft store? I’ve only seen glycerine. Will look!
Looks so elegant! I didn’t realize just how easy it is to make soap :)
I’m so intrigued by the goat milk soap base. I’ve made lots of glycerin soap before but I’ve never heard of the goat milk base. I can’t wait to try that!

Thistle » This Hi Karianne! I used a soap colorant that I found at Michaels. Its a small bottle that you squeeze a few drops into your melted soap then stir until you achieve your desired color. I hope that helps! :)
Crystal, If these smell as good as they look… they would be the greatest gift ever! So beautiful! Hope you are well!
Take care,
Trish
