Hi friends! Remember when I shared my office makeover inspiration? After years of dreaming of making over this space, I’ve finally created a space that fits my style. It has a minimalist, modern-farmhouse aesthetic that’s perfect for working from home.
Modern Farmhouse Office
If you saw the before you know that the color wasn’t very appealing. This room gets great lighting early morning then the light is blocked 75% of the day. The old color would then look like a mix between an unflattering beige-yellow. It wasn’t pretty and made the space look quite dark. My style has definitely evolved over the years to a more neutral, minimalist vibe. I tend to keep décor to a minimum and use neutral tones like grey, taupe, black and white. When I started thinking about wall paint colors for this space I debated between grey and white. In the end I knew I wanted an open, clean-looking space that white walls could offer. I used KILZ® Complete Coat™ Paint satin RJ110 and found it to be the perfect shade of white.
I’ve had this inexpensive storage hutch for over 5 years that was in dire need of a makeover. A fresh coat of KILZ Complete Coat Paint and it looks like a new addition to my office. I used my paint sprayer to apply two coats of paint in a semi-gloss finish, color RL230 Chipped Granite. My desk is pretty dark so I worried how this color would fit in the office space. In the end I think they are a great match. My next project is making over our kitchen cabinets and I’m leaning towards using the same color. It’s a wonderful grey color without being too cool or beige tone. I’ll keep you updated on that project!
I used dark frames above the desk to tie the entire space together using grey, black and white for the décor. A little industrial metal and of course several plants. Guys, at what point are you considered a crazy plant lady? I think I’m up to 15 indoor plants.
Farmhouse Office Organization
One of the best decisions I made was downsizing my supplies and decluttering the space. Before I had a lot of big organization bins that made the space look overwhelming. Ironic, isn’t’ it? Now I have a clean space with plenty of room to craft in, edit photos and write. My desk is a great size, so I often have Netflix going on one side and crafting and photographing on the other. It’s the best of both worlds!
I’m very happy with my decision to go with white walls. Using KILZ Complete Coat Paint made this entire project easier than I had anticipated. Looking through the color options allowed me to envision exactly where I was going with this room makeover and even helped inspire new projects I want to work on around the house. The coverage was excellent and went on smoothly.Â
And just for reference here’s the before. It’s pretty amazing what a couple coats of paint can do to a space!
