Handmade Coffee Mug Gift

Hey there crafty friends! Today I’m sharing a quick tutorial on how to make a polka dot coffee cup using Americana multi-surface paint. This handmade gift is perfect for the holidays, as a teacher gift, or for a special coffee lover in your life.

I’m a big fan of gifting coffee and chocolate They rank pretty high on my list of favorite things. Quite frankly I’m not sure what I would do without them in my life. :) I happen to really like the single serving (via) Starbucks coffee packets, they’re perfect for handmade gifts! I recently use them for a gift along with my favorite chocolate, a gift card, and handmade coffee mug. This coffee mug was super easy to make with a circle sponge and multi-surface paint.

Supplies:

Americana multi-surface paint in Black Tie

sponge dabber

rubbing alcohol + cotton ball

ceramic coffee cup

Prepare the coffee mug with rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball. Dip the sponge into the paint, remove any dripping excess and press onto cup. Allow to dry and repeat if necessary. Air cure the cup for 4 days then place in non-preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes at 325 degrees. Cool with oven door open. Note: my circles came out with a few imperfections. Next time I will try using a vinyl stencil instead or a thicker sponge. I used the last bit of this multi-surface paint in black tie, it’s been my favorite for Halloween projects this year. I love that I can use it on a wide range of surfaces from wood to glass, plastic, and more!

I added paper filler, a pack of via Starbucks pumpkin spice coffee, a gift card, and chocolate. I also placed it inside clear cellophane and tied it with gold ribbon. A simple gift that’s perfect for a coffee lover.
