Easy teacher gift idea: create an apple treat jar with DecoArt gloss enamels.
As a DecoArt blogger I have the opportunity to share fun projects using DecoArt paints. This month all of the core bloggers have gathered to create a project using DecoArt specialty glass paints and I chose to create an apple treat jar with Americana Frost Gloss enamels. You’ll find a link party at the bottom of my post to visit the other fabulous projects!
DIY Apple Jar
Supplies:
- Glass Jar
- Americana Frost Gloss Enamels
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Foam sponge
- Ribbon & Twine (optional)
This treat jar was very easy to make. I began by cleaning the jar with rubbing alcohol and a napkin, you can also use a cotton ball. Once the rubbing alcohol was dry I used a round foam sponge to dab the paint on the jar. This created a translucent etched glass appearance, but the red looked almost pink. I decided I wanted the jar to have a brighter red hue so I applied a second coat after the first coat had fully dried. After allowing the paint to cure for 4 days I baked the jar for 30 minutes in a 275 degree non-preheated oven. To finish the jar I hot glued ribbon to the lid and added twine.
Love it!! The shape of the jar is so cute!! Pinning it!!
This jar is so pretty! I would love for you to share it at the Krafty Inspiration Thursday Party over at Krafty Cards etc.
Thanks for the inspiration!
