Homemade Watermelon Kool-Aid Slushies just in time for summer!

Watermelon Slushies

Do you remember drinking slushies on a hot summer day? Swim, drink slushies, and swim some more was pretty much our entire summer schedule as kids. I can recall those memories perfectly. Sitting under a tree, trying to keep cool with a bathing suit, flip flops, and slushie in my hand. The sticky messes my little sister would make all over her face and my mother desperately trying to keep us out of the house until we finished them. My husband and I were talking about this last week and we then realized that our kids have never had slushies before. Wait..what? I had to rectify this immediately. With slushies in mind I thought of another summer drink we had as a teen..Kool-Aid! Who remembers picking out all of your favorite packet flavors? Oh, the horror when you realized you were out of sugar! While those packets are still available today, now you can enjoy pre-made Kool-Aid without the effort. The new 96 ounce pre made Kool-Aid drink was exactly what I needed to make our watermelon slushies.

Kool-Aid-SlushiesI also picked up a container of the powder for a craft project I’ll share with you soon. Mmmm cherry limeade..I can’t wait to show you what I made with it!

To perfect the slushie add ice as needed until you find the consistency you prefer. I used crushed ice but regular ice will work just fine.
